Re: Livestrong Sporting Park
Just a couple of points (well ok a few), I am sure they would have loved to build it downtown if Missouri would have offered them the same money that Kansas did. Also, gosh I hate to tell you guys this, but all young professionals do not live downtown or for that matter even in Missouri. As far as I...

Re: OFFICIAL: Proposed KCK Casino
What is it with people and crab legs? I swear I don't get it, kind of like that is the mark of "fine dining"? Not really into gambling, but went once. I liked it, it seemed brighter than most and I thought the air handling system was really good. Almost impossible to get into the Turn 2 ba...

Re: Fairway vs. Waldo
Single, 30's, I would say Waldo all the way. Once your friends find out how fun the area can be, walkable, great bars, they will understand why you chose Waldo. My daughter and son in law moved there about 9 months ago from Lenexa (medical insurance reasons), I doubt they will ever move back to Jo...

I am not positive, but I think Diebels might be taking over that space. There have been issues between them and the gelato place

Re: ONGOING: Sprint Center bookings
Hate to tell you guys this, but most of the crowd that actually goes to a Jimmy Buffett concert are WAY younger than 50. Have no idea if it is true, someone gave me the link to this website http://www.buffettworld.com/2011/01/13/buffett-to-play-kansas-city-in-april/#disqus_thread. No matter how you...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies
I live in Kansas, work in Missouri, even taking into consideration the E-tax, the total tax bill for us anyway is way higher living in KS. Just using income tax, each year I get a refund from Missouri, all of the Missouri income tax can be deducted from my Kansas tax bill, and each year we still ow...

Thanks all for the input. The house is huge and she loved it, but man it would be a killer to keep warm or cool. They will probably go with the Waldo rental.

I wish it was me moving over there. I love the area. Husband grew up on a farm though and I haven't quite convinced him of the advantages of urban living. I keep working on it

Hyde Park? need advice ASAP
Long story short, daughter and son-in-law, two small kids are moving to Missouri because Kansas is such a backwards state as far as health insurance rules. Anyway, they had to take a loss on their Lenexa house, had to sell fast, so there is no way they can buy at the moment, they are going to rent ...

Re: Advice on Waldo/Brookside area
My daughter anyway would prefer the Tudor style I am sure, 3 bedrooms 2 baths are almost a must. Sidewalks and kid friendly would also be a factor. She likes to take them out for walks. Budget would probably be about $185,000 to $220,000. Thanks for any advice.

Pretty sure Sumner Academy in KCK was rated higher than Blue Valley in the USA Today top 100 school rankings.

Re: Group dining / going out
I think the problem with the "lounge" style seating for anyone over 45-50 is that most of those places seem to "cater" to the younger crowd. A lot of times you just don't feel welcome, kind of like a club you can't join. With a group I prefer tall tables and chairs with backs (...
