Re: Urban Living Tour

I don't remember which building it was but I was rather impressed with it.  It had a penthouse up on the 14th floor and had recently sold for $650k, the building was over by the library somewhere.  The penthouse also had the coolest opening windows I have ever seen. My only compalint were the snotty...

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

508 Garfield is a shame.  I would have bought the place in a heart beat and done all of the work needed but the price is way too high, I hope that the current owners lower their price some day.

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

So would I feel safe with my 10 year old playing in the street around the corner from my house? These are serious questions. I guess thats just not something you can expect in a urban setting. That entirely depends on how you rate your comfort level.  Some parents would not feel safe with their kid...

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

From what I hear the Scarritt Brownstone you mention is in need of quite a bit of work, thus the reduced price.  If you look at the two Heim mansions on Gladsone you will notice that they are in better shape and respectively demand a higher price. The Hyde Park vs Northeast thing you will never get ...

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

I'm pretty sure that not "everyone" wants the neighborhood to improve solely on their own terms- you don't mean that literally, do you?  I don't know who you've been talking with, but I want to hear these "totally unrealistic" thoughts!  A lot of great inventions and situations ...

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

It looks like a normal Buddhist temple (square with multiple roof lines) in architecture and shape but with the decorative side being less Oriental and more like the rest of the houses in the neighborhood.  Hieght wise it didn't look any taller then the 2 story houses that would be surrounding it.  ...

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

went to the open house today and brought a friend. we were both really disappointed. while all the houses were old, 3 of them were done up inside with a modern southern overland park interior look. white trim and dark beige paint. if you didn't know better you would of thought you were in o.p. What...

Re: Home ownership or rent?

I have yet to find a house that provides me a comparable comfort of living that would have a mortgage payment as low as my rent. Plus I'm going to be paying much more for utilities, taxes, and insurance... I would expect some deals right now, but I can't find any and the banks want to sit on their ...

This happen in the garage attached to the 1201 Walnut building?  Pretty brazen/dumb/drunk if so because that garage is pretty open

Re: Home ownership or rent?

I think he has a point in certain markets where home ownership is much more expensive in relationship to renting then it is here in KC. For me though, I pay exactly the same for my mortgage as I would pay for rent.  Since there is no difference in the cost I wouldn't have anything extra to invest wh...

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

the thing that will really tell you if things are getting better in ne is if those people actually get out and walk around or stop and shop. Most people that drive in to a neighborhood to look around probably aren't going to get out and walk whether it be the NE or Leawood (especially not the NE). ...

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

Don't worry alpha.  In case you hadn't noticed, Beermo is an asshole.  Even better, he's an internet asshole.  That means he can just be an asshole from a distance without actually interacting with any of the people to whom he is being an asshole.  I guess that makes him a long distance, anonymous ...

Re: Religion...

Not trying to start an argument... The statement is actually very true... If there is no God, then everything is permitted. Because then we are just a bunch of animals, the same as all the others out there. And even killing each other would be permitted, as even the animals do that. If there were n...

Re: Religion...

My morality is driven by my belief that God has given a perfect example of how to live and my job is to emulate it. This example that he has given, these idea's on how to live, could these ideas not be followed by people who do not believe in your God or any God at all?  Is a organized religion not...

Re: Religion...

So, being an atheist, what drives your morality?   Being a (fill in the blank religion), what drives your morality?  If you are religious, are you a moral person out of fear or are you a moral person because you believe and follow the fundamentals of your religion?  Most religions have an underlyin...

Re: Religion...

I was born into a Catholic family and am an atheist now.  Most Christian people assume that I am a devout Christian due to the lifestyle I lead, I am "too good" to not be religious.   Thinking back on it I think I turned agnostic once I got to the age to really begin understanding it but c...
