Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Nichols not only acknowledged the surrounding neighborhoods, he developed them! Everyone knows that the Country Club District was developed by Nichols right? I'm talking about the Ward Parkway area, Loose Park, Brookside etc...some of our city's best neighborhoods. The Plaza was like a town center ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

^Taubman mentions transitioning retail spaces to more restaurants but that's about it. They need to target much broader than that such as nightlife/cultural venues that target perhaps 40+. Like Highwoods, no mention of a neighborhood surrounding it, which Nichols always acknowledged and partly cate...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Really though, big props to Town Center off of 119th for continuing to just fleece the Plaza of our premier retail tenants. For the pharphacy lovers, they even have a Walgreens! I don't even think TCP is actively trying to poach tenants. Considering that GAP is falling through, Eddie Bauer is closi...

Re: New Grocer

Just bring back Dillon's already. :D I'm sure there is some part of the deal that Kroger made with Price Chopper that says that Kroger can't build any new stores in JoCo and Price Chopper can't move into Topeka for a certain period of time. Kroger was making no effort to be competitive in JoCo, Jop...

I sadly don't think they'll do much until they figure out what to do with the vacant lot that was Indian Springs.

Re: Merriam Hen House closing but Olathe getting one

I'm not surprised. It's between a popular price chopper, a HyVee, and a Natural Grocery. I also believe that the Mission Target, which was a Greatland store, sells produce. There's also a SunFresh to the north and a Neighborhood Market to the south.

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West

What's happening with the "Legends South" development across I-70 south of Hollywood Casino? Nothing has been done at the site in months it looks like. News releases from last year say two hotels were to be finished by "mid-2018". A major retailer that was aligned with Nascar was to open there, but...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Lots of dead trees on the Plaza. Looks like new management doesn't care to water. Makes things look even more tired and neglected. The landscaping at Oak Park, Town Center Plaza, and Zona Rosa has been looking scraggly for years. The Plaza and IC have definitely seen the quality of their trees and ...

A store downtown would be a lot more convenient than driving all the way to Mission, Independence, or Chouteau for at least dozens of thousands of people from eastern WyCo through the greater east side / northeast and near-in NKC, not to mention more convenient for a whole bunch of transit-dependen...

Re: Topeka,ks Sears on the list

So all of the ones barely getting by in small towns don't have to update their signs from the 90s. They're hoping to capitalize on the heavily tarnished Sears name. Sears was actually helping Hometown franchisees set up stores in markets that they were vacating for some time, and some dying malls e...

The one in Corbin Park was called Sears Home Appliance Showroom and selled more then Kenmore never Hometown and Outlet was located in Lenexa,In Parts place still located in KCMO. Which is a subsidy of Sears Hometown which isn't run by Sears and hasn't been owned by them since 2012... The only small...

Good to know, it has been a number of years since I spent any time there. Topeka just can't ever catch a break when it comes to any situation, even when they're trying to prevent the worst from happening. It's honestly not a horrible town. Two of the suburban school districts are good, and one of t...

Bringing this guy back from the grave since it's the only Town Center Plaza thread I could find. Dean & Deluca is slated to close May 21. Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I again think you're missing the point. We'd all love the plaza to become an urban neighborhood, but I'm saying there are systemic issues that keep it from getting more urban. I agree with the "last word syndrome" point though, so I'll recuse myself from here and let it return to actual plaza movin...

Yes and they might sell some of the same stuff. Lees Summit is a big city. Shopko isn't even St. Louis so isn't Meijer. Only different between St. Louis and KC area is Supermarkets and some Food places. Have you ever been to a Sears Hometown or a Shopko Hometown? They do not sell the same products....
