But both retailers are gone...

'SOLO' area area in 2004 I think, before P&L. Parking lot desert. I wish they would have kept that art deco facade (Soakie's building) https://scontent.fmkc1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/10848922_10100139529229313_8754424350699926061_o.jpg?oh=385d16ec4d8ffa0d049e10ab8e1712a0&oe=5A67C7F8

Is that the old Kats? (with streamline-deco corner entrance)

What a shame! Always thought it was an interesting corner.

Re: OFFICIAL - Ashland at River Market

Glad you asked. This is what they are trying to emulate: ... ... With that caveat, what can I say? I guess I like the old timey cornices on buildings. Do not feel like you have to justify your opinion in such detail! If you like it, you like it. If someone else disagrees, so what! I like the cornic...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Looks really good. I love how they broke the mass up into three smaller bays. The size makes sense for the area. I think NSPJ does some really great work.

Re: Westport

New, larger residential projects should be concentrated on Broadway, Main Street, and Linwood. Empty lots and post-WWII building sites should be prioritized first. Maybe provide incentives for replacing empty lots and surface parking with new buildings. Any time a historic building is going to be de...

Historic Elements of Country Club Plaza - Slowly Disappearing

I know many of you 'hate' the Plaza because it's a mall, its developer was racist, its too 'basic'...or whatever. Still, as an architect and lover of all things beautiful and historic, I am saddened every time I notice yet another detail altered or missing. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great pla...

Re: "Flashcube" Building - 720 Main

I still wish that place was gonna be torn down. I'm all for saving buildings, but this one is not worth it IMO. It's so ugly & has a terrible relationship with the street. Some of us actually like the look of this building. But, we welcome your opinion. Even if you might not like ours! Thanks, ...

Hadley is moving from W18th (formerly between Birdie's and Peggy Noland) to 27th and Troost.

Sad to see a designer leave the Crossroads, but it may be good news for the Eastside!

Re: West 39th Street Apartments

They need to push all the new buildings back from the street to create a wider sidewalk with green spaces. That stretch of 39th feels really hostile to pedestrians. I always walk on 38th instead.

Re: OFFICIAL - Fairfax Lofts/Hotel Indigo (former Brookfield Building)

The brick really sparkled in the sunlight...very cool. Can't wait to see the new terracotta go up.

I don't see a sign for the Hotel Indigo anymore...only Fairfax Lofts. Anyone know if the hotel is still planned?
