Food hall is a solid idea for the location but sure wish they would have found a way to face the street more. Getting rid of the street level gym and putting that downstairs for example.
The food hall replacing the food court is so genius!

Re: Restoring Residential Density

Great that the out-of-towners love the bucolic environs of Midtown but as a resident, it's very hard to get a gallon of milk without a car. That's a problem. Mr. Z's is real close to Roanoke. Hyde Park needs a Mr. Z's - Exactly. I grew up in Roanoke so maybe my perspective is skewed. It's like the ...

Great that the out-of-towners love the bucolic environs of Midtown but as a resident, it's very hard to get a gallon of milk without a car. That's a problem. It's not just out-of-towners. I think a lot of residents of Midtown love it too...its probably why they choose to live there. Also, I thought...

Re: Restoring Residential Density

I want to see more density, but I want to see in the right places. We need strategic planning. I'd love to see more mid-rises built along major streets like Broadway, Main and Troost. There is a lot of infill that could be built in the loop and on empty lots in the neighborhoods adjacent. I wish the...

Re: Westport Terrace at Manor Square

Pulse Development seems to have gone silent/dead. They were supposed to have already built the Artisan apartments east of the Plaza, but nothing appears to be happening with that. Mirabelle Phase II seems stalled as well. The site has been cleared but no further movement. I just checked out their w...

What makes your pre-war point funny is the Unity Temple wasn't completed until 1950, construction started in 1945.
I 100% agree with everything Hammond said and I am an architect.

The church is definitely part of the 'pre-war' mentality in design regardless of when it was actually completed.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

It would be a great place for Jack Stack on the Plaza to move it. The ceiling reminds me of their Freight House location. The patio would be way bigger and more of a garden setting.

Re: OFFICIAL - 46 Penn Centre

Loss of the Balcony Building would have been a tragedy and I'm glad it was stopped. However, if a developer comes in with a proposal that satisfies the requirements of the neighbor-vetted Plaza Plan (height limitations, bowl and all that), they should not then be able to be held hostage by Save the...

Re: OFFICIAL - 46 Penn Centre

Save the Plaza people need to be run out of town first. Yeah! Then we can just demolish the whole plaza!! Who needs those dumb old Spanish towers anyway. We can build lots of 15 story buildings with giant garages facing the street. No more tile and plaster, I want to see cheap materials. Then we ca...

This is more like the facade that the Plaza deserves for the new Nordstroms. Imagine seeing that at the end of Nichols Road.

I wonder what the plan is with this. Even if they clean it, what happens the next time it rains?

Looks like they forgot to specify stainless or galvanized clips for the panels?

No solution besides replacing the clips I bet.

I had a hard time telling if the beautiful painted beams were still in place. Would be hard to believe they would be demo'ed. The giant Gothic light fixtures were removed from the front, too bad. I actually think the sign is cool. Glad there will still be a huge sign on top, regardless of what it is...

Re: Historic Elements of Country Club Plaza - Slowly Disappearing

They have been removing the tile from the face of the Cordoba garage (across from Valencia Place). The tile that was covering the face was badly deteriorating.

Anyone know what the plan is here? I assume they won't just leave it as is. It looks really barren and terrible right now.

Looks very classy and like a great addition to Armour.

I really want to know what they are planning for the Troost/Armour intersection. More traditional or modern? I'd love to see a little of both.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I'm still mad about the ugly facade they put up...and those cheap looking modern lights they tacked on the outside. None of it goes with the Plaza The Plaza needs regulations to protect old facades (if they are already in place). I know some blocks are newer or already have a ton of different storef...
