Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I am currently on vacation in San Diego, and yesterday my family and I went down to area around Petco Park. We were in the Gaslamp Quarter and there were shops and activity everywhere. This area is adjacent to Petco Park, and spanned multiple blocks in all directions. The stadium had some small str...

Re: New Restaurants/Other Businesses in Northland
Osteria Bianchi recently opened in the old Trago space in Shoal Creek near Liberty. It's an Italian restaurant and the chefs recently moved here from Las Vegas. Food is really, really good. Definitely like the kind of restaurant the Liberty area needed. It's only been open a week, but I've already r...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Clay County actually passed the zoo sales tax along with Jackson so it's not unheard of that other counties could work together for a community benefit. I still like the NKC site for the Chiefs (not sure how you finance it though). I just think with a site like that, we'd get Final Fours, Super Bowl...

Re: NBA to Kansas City
What people forget in regards to a NBA team is KU is similar to a NBA team in ticket prices and cost to attend so you if we added a NBA team, it would be like a relatively small metro without enough Fortune 500 companies having to support 1.5 NBA teams in addition to all the other pro sports we have...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
I still don't know why we can't just bring the Chiefs to downtown or NKC. ESPECIALLY if they're not even planning any surrounding development at TSC. If they just want the stadium only then I can name fifty better sites. Yeah, I'd love to see the Chiefs build new on the NKC site they had in mind fo...

Re: Shoal Creek Valley Neighborhood Plan
Tried to go to Fareway on Sunday but it's closed. A bit odd day to be closed for a grocery store. I did go to new Total Wine in Liberty. They recently purchased the Lukas Liquor in Overland Park and either the Liberty location as well or it's likely closing (not sure). Either way odd for them to op...

Re: Downtown Casino
I know casinos are tied to the river by law, but I'd love to see Missouri cut that requirement and see KC build a Vegas-style casino somewhere downtown. I just think you get a first class casino with all the bells and whistles that it would really be additive to attracting convention business and co...

Re: Aviara - Masterplanned Community in Liberty
Here's the last article I could find on it. First phase was supposed to break ground in Spring 2023, but I haven't seen anything. https://www.mycouriertribune.com/news/city_government/massive-upscale-liberty-development-plan-proposes-residential-retail-spaces/article_fd1f2bfa-1d9c-11ed-bc76-7b4fd322...

Re: On-going downtown development projects
With KC set to approach/hit the longtime goal of 40,000 downtown, what’s next? 50,000 new office jobs was mentioned by downtown council. I think a residential density of 15-20k sq/mile is a good goal albeit Very long term . I'd really love to see downtown focus on bringing in employers that hire lo...

Re: Shoal Creek Valley Neighborhood Plan
Yes, I also heard the same rumor in the same location. I think Rob McGee's passing may have delayed any announcement, but I think it makes sense to open it there and it would do very well. Will keep digging into it. I think any modestly upscale restaurant in that development would kill it. There's ...

Re: Shoal Creek Valley Neighborhood Plan
Anyone hear anything about Q39 going in those Valley View Shoppes in this neighborhood? I feel like that's the rumor that won't die, but someone told me adamantly this weekend that they heard it's coming. I'm really hoping for a somewhat upscale/unique restaurant in this development. I don't know w...

Re: Aviara - Masterplanned Community in Liberty
Will be interesting to see if more of the growth shifts to Liberty from KCMO. Liberty has been stagnant for over a decade, but has tremendous opportunity to grow to the North, East, and South. Great to see this development revived.

Re: Downtown ballpark and condos
There's a poll going on a KU message board. It's currently 80% in favor of downtown baseball, 8% opposed, and 12% that are opposed if taxpayers are involved. While I'm sure there's not a lot of them that are Jackson County residents, I found it encouraging that there was that much support for downt...

Re: Poll shows support for NKC to secede from KC
For God's sake, the Northland just got the biggest project in KC history with the airport. They got the soccer fields. They're even now getting the streetcar to be studied to go across into the northland. How the hell are they being "mistreated"?? They're getting plenty right now. Not to ...

Re: Poll shows support for NKC to secede from KC
I wouldn't say 59% opposed. It was 41% for, 25% against, 33% unsure. But is it seriously possible to secede from a city? What has to happen procedure-wise for that to happen? Would the Northland have to pay KC to leave or pay KCMO ongoing? I can't imagine the Northland can just secede and then leave...

Not according to the U.S. census.....the St. Louis metro dropped 1328 people.STLguy1 wrote:STL Metro did not lose population. You are misinformed. The growth was slower but not negative.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
I don’t really know what’s going on in St. Louis outside somehow the metro lost people last year while the KC metro had a nice increase to a net 20,000 growth (about 5k more than recent years). I know St. Louis is larger, but don’t know how much more construction they have going than KC. I’m pleased...
