Re: Jack Gage American Tavern
I haven't been there yet, but they don't seem to be hurting without my business. I tried to go on a Friday at 6 a few weeks ago and the parking lot was jam packed. We ended up at Planet Sub, which was perfectly adequate and quite a bit less expensive! I'll try for a weeknight sometime soon.

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants
Did anyone see that Poco's on the Blvd closed? A friend was there and last Saturday was their last day. Very sad, but I guess the Sunday brunch crowd couldn't pay the bills for the rest of the week.

Re: favorite under-the-radar mexican places in the kansas city area?
I like ortega's at 2646 Belleview Ave, between Penn Valley park and Southwest Blvd.
The place on 7th Street in KCK, just north of City Hall is also good.
And don't forget Pancho's at 34th and Main!

There's also Otto's down in the west bottoms by where all of the fireworks stores are - I think it is James Street.

Re: Sushi
Traditional sushi etiquette also says that the chef has to work only with Rice for 5 years before they can even touch a knife...which I don't think happens in a sushi bar in Liberty. US Sushi etiquette is pretty much anything goes. If you like wasabi mixed in with your soy sauce, live it up! I fo...

projection on Crown Plaza
I was at SW Blvd and Broadway last night near sunset and could see a projection of an image on the Crowne Plaza (west of Municipal) taking up most of the south side of the building. It looked like a runner of some sort and they were trying to get it in focus. Did anyone else see this?

Re: Random Housing Question
Um, Blue Springs is not what I would call exciting, if that is what you're looking for - and it is a bit far out to drive into the city. I would check out suburbs a bit closer to Midtown, maybe Roeland Park or North Kansas City or Waldo, close enough to get to the action, unless you want to live in...

I was talking with someone at the one big employer at the Wheeler airport and they said they had approached the city about it and hadn't gotten anywhere...I explained the difficulty in changing routes for KCATA, but maybe I should have encouraged him to pursue the matter further?

Re: El Dorado Project on Cover of DWELL again!
Did anyone else make it to the Westside home tours on Sunday? There were 4 houses, 2 new and 2 renovated. There were parts and pieces of each house that I thought were great. One house had concrete countertops that were dark grey, almost black, that offset the wood cabinets perfectly. The new ho...

yeah I guess they do have those bars with slot machines in the bar itself...I was thinking more like Voodoo at Harrahs would be non-smoking from this ordinance since it's not on the floor. I don't see direct competition there...I've never thought, hmmm, maybe I should go hang out at that bar with t...

I rode by friday and there was still plastic on couches, so I assume not...they were listed as a venue on the crossroads music festival, which I think is the weekend after labor day.
