Ikea moving to Urban Core & Online

Interesting story Bizjournal (Charlotte): Ikea changing directions from suburban big-box to focus on “online” and “smaller Urban Core" stores. They are canceling construction of a North Carolina location and perhaps others.

For someone who claims to have moved recently to the area (specifically suburban kansas) you sure seem to know a lot about the City.

Re: Six Light

Things don't really have to be "public" until the initial planning and development submittal. Then, whatever is on the plans is public. But they don't have to voluntarily release any information. So I guess we could assume then that both Three and Four Light are pretty much a done deal si...

What's the purpose in Cordish throwing out Fives and Sixes whenever they aren't yet willing to give details about Three and Four? Are they just trying to get the locals to salivate?

My guess is voters of Kansas City MO will approve a KCI rebuild long before anything from Kansas would come to fruition.

Re: Clay Chastain coming back with light rail

So you are saying they will poo poo it if it passes? Why can’t they just take the essence of his plan and make it what the city needs and what those of us that care, want? I haven’t voted yet and I don’t want to contribute to anything that will stop or slow down the extension of the streetcar’s prog...

Re: Clay Chastain coming back with light rail

Dave I believe you are earnest in your attempt to carefully orchestrate streetcar expansion in the most beneficial and expedient way. The problem I fear is that if the Chastain plan is struck down again it will have a detrimental effect on streetcar expansion as well. I think officials would have to...

I've heard the opposite, but delays with working out the new location are just slowing the plans down.

I may sound like a critic of the style, but I actually like the outcome. My point is that developers benefit from a less labor intensive design, which they don't discount.
