This dropped today. https://fb.watch/pCClTT1bbm/?mibextid=ZbWKwL You were spot on with that "pocket the money and do nothing" comment. I'm told the board is trying to build the reserves up though they haven't said why. I'm sure it's related to the conversation we're having here in which t...

Staff at Banksia said they will be moving locations to 12th and Main and also adding dinner hours.

"Asian Cafe" just opened in the old Red Dragon space on 8th Street. I had a tasty bowl of pho there for lunch. Also, Vested Coffee on the same block has announced on their Facebook page that they will be closing permanently Dec 23.

Re: Real Estate Listings of Interest (Metrowide)

That price is insane! Yeah that price seems like longshot wishful thinking. The county appraises that lot at $6840 and assigns no value to the structure, such as it is. I did look at the Jackson County Recorder of Deeds website and the current listed owner seems to have purchased it in 2022 for $1.

The strange unfinished concrete structure north of Fox 4 News facing Southwest Trafficway is listed for sale. I've always wondered what the story was behind it, and I have difficulty picturing what it is/was supposed to look like when finished. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/M8031...

Not just bikes lost his credibility when he trashed North America, and the U.S. in particular, as "unfixable" and then blocked anyone who dared to present him evidence of positive changes happening here. I rather not take advice from, or give views to, someone who thought, "gee, it r...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

The current 'Not Just Bikes' episode (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztpcWUqVpIg) meanders all over the place, but what's fascinating to me from its grab bag of video clips is all the hybrid street forms that can exist between typical car-centric infrastructure that we're used to here in the U.S., ...

Re: Trees in KC (ongoing)

I live downtown and I've noticed several sidewalk planters where the city has removed an old tree and just left a stump, but never planted a new one. Most recently on 8th by The Phoenix. Do they never come back and plant new ones? I do see where 311 has a template for "Trees - City Owned: New T...

Re: Seiden's Furs Appears to Be Closing

On my walks this weekend I was surprised to see the roof at the Seiden's Furs building is still open to the sky a full year and counting after the collapse. And seemingly no permits filed for either repair or demo. On deeper digging I did find that the owners of the adjacent building (Majestic) fil...

This definitely feels like a bait and switch. Consider selling this parcel to someone else or just have the city hang onto it until an actual RFP comes through.

I hope all of these newer parking garage podiums are at least being built with horizontally level floors to give a theoretical option for conversion to future living space. Not that I realistically expect that to ever happen.

I am really curious what this is going to look like in real life now. The images on KCUR and other media so far have shown a lighter shade of blue. But the All Nations rendering shows a more standard navy blue, which I think I like better. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FpCzG-tXwAQCAcC?format=jpg http...

I mean, the days with the most sales revenue are exactly when the City Market is closed off to vehicles, making it inviting to crowds of people in the first place. Maybe that zone should eventually even be expanded a little?
