Re: Making public transit free

The ONLY other jurisdiction increasing their funding for transit is Johnson County, and that's only because voters authorized a levy increase specifically for that (coupled with parks and libraries). We are doing piecemeal today, why continue trying to grow that when the regional investment is inev...

I think that's unfairly harsh to Lenexa. This would never fly in City Center.

But I gotta say this is probably the ugliest thing being built in all of downtown.

Hopefully there's a plan. That whole block should be leveled and redeveloped as something more dense.

Re: Proctor & Gamble will close KCK plant

How can you see a Lumber Yard because all I see is something in back parking lot that doesn't look the size of Menards Lumber Yard. We need a Kmart replacement and Shopko and Meijer would do it and are good so it's Albertsons that would do good in Johnson County or KCK. Supermarkets don't have auxi...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

https://cityscenekc.com/east-crossroads-development/ Milhaus is loooking at 300 apts and 10,000 sf of retail. Smaller than their Gallerie project in CC. While I think this is still a positive step, it's a shame they're not setting aside a larger amount of retail space. The lots total about 240,000 s...

Re: Fixing KC's lack of downtown parking?

Every public garage has a big blue P. I see one on the east end of the Kauffman Center garage and the SW corner. How do I know this is there from the I-35 exit to Broadway so I know it there? How does the big B at 17th and Broadway tell me to go north on Wyandotte to park? What if I turned at 16th ...

Re: Fixing KC's lack of downtown parking?

Parking signage needs to be large and uniform across privately owned and city owned lots. if it's not both, it's not going to help. It seems like it'd be easy enough to mimic Chicago with signs like these, across publicly available lots. https://evpapi.intpark.com/ImageStream/Image?imageID=163

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

^Agreed, unfortunately. I think if you want some higher use for that public land, you'd have to look at something like Chicago's Cultural Center or a museum. Perhaps with an enhanced transit station, but not a full blown transit center.

Re: Hospital Hill activity

That's a shame, hopefully it's for a new/better use like another RMD house or something similar? I know the wait list for them is still excessively long.

I never saw anything for this on the development tracker. Doesn't look like the RMD website has any news to share either.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Fire stairs are encassed in glass all the time. It's actually benefits the outside and the users of the stairs feel safer. Why so much push back in looking for better ground level experiences from this building? It's catty-corner from one of our crown jewels and this building is turning it back to ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Agreed...the other blocks are a bit more level but this block would take something creative....and with Cordish in support of it, could get something really cool there. In the end the orientation maybe best but I still think they could push Loew's a little more to make that south end more than just...

Re: The Future of Crown Center

Where is "there"? I guess I am addressing the green space between Main and Grand south of 27th. That could support a few stories, but the Hall plan posted a while back shows that remaining a green space. All other areas are good to go if they stay around Shook, Hardy & Bacon height. I...
