Mean Mule Distilling on Locust appears to be close to opening.
I've been trying to track this but they seem to have pretty much zero social media presence. Do you know if this just a production facility or will they have a tasting room too?

Event Sept 29 - 4th annual Tabs For Toys pub crawl

Inspired by the Splutschnik pub crawls several of us participated in (and Splutschnik-founder approved), this is our 4th annual fundraising event for the children spending the holidays at Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City. As long as you walk or use the streetcar, every bar in the entirety of dow...

Re: beer.

I was looking up a liquor license and noticed a new application for Alma Mader Brewing & Taproom at 2635 Southwest Boulevard. It's in consent phase right now and it looks like several of the residents in the area are angry about it, citing the smell of mash and the increased traffic & bad driving on...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

In terms of on campus development they could probably raze Cockefair Hall and build something on that block. That building was rotting apart even when I was there thirty years ago.

Looks like a downtown Conservatory is now off the table.

Re: Dog friendly patios and places

Good topic. Anton's back area. In NKC Chicken and Pickle usually has a few dogs around, pretty sure the o breweries in NKC are cool with dogs on their patios (cinder block, calibration and big rip) They don't have a patio but I've seen dogs in Call Sign, and I think I've seen a dog or two at Velo G...

How to plan your night as a Bird charger... https://therideshareguy.com/bird-capture-streak/ I'm exhausted after reading this. This seems like way too much work for the payoff. (^This of course coming from a guy who does literally weeks of prep work to plan the most efficient "local-beers-and-dive-...

Re: beer.

With all the different selections of beers coming around you would think a few bottle shops would start to open up or liquor stores would focus on single beer more than just 6 packs of craft beer. Nobody is going to want a 15 dollar 6 pack of Double IPA if they have never tried it before. The Bottl...

Re: beer.

Forgot all about the one in River Market! And I haven't even heard of Flying Horse. It's crazy how fast they are coming yet how far behind we still are from other cities of our size. I didn't count Boulevard for Crossroads, since that's West Side no matter whether you are Team I-35 or Team Broadway....

Re: beer.

Just off the top of my head: 5 breweries + 1 distillery in NKC, 5 breweries ( & 1 more opening soon) + 2 distilleries + 1 winery in Crossroads, 1 in Brookside, 1(?) in Waldo. Also 1 in OP, 1 re-opening in Olathe, 1 each in Raytown, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, and Liberty; and 2 in Excelsior Springs....

Re: Google Maps just did another satellite view update for KC

Edit: I spent way too much time on this, but am 99% sure it was Saturday, April 28th. Being that 14th is closed, I looked for events and the 2018 Downtown Wine Walk was that day. Found photos and they had round tables in the road and pop up tent placed in front of Bristol that jives up with what yo...

Re: Interstate 70 KC to St Louis

I've done the KC-Chicago drive several times and 36 (CKC) is definitely my favorite route. Much less traffic, much less stress.

I-70 needs to be completely dug out and started over. There's no other way to fix it.

All's good. Having too much Mexican food too late after a crappy day at work and being stressed over too many rapidly approaching deadlines makes one hypersensitive/cranky online.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Jesus. You make one suggestion that a few blocks of Of one street might be too dangerous for them (the same few blocks that have signs cautioning cyclists, mind you), and suddenly you are some sort of murderous pro-car nut job.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I didn't have any real beef with the scooter riders until today when I was driving back to work from getting my hair cut. I really think they need to be banned on Main from 12th to 20th. The traffic lanes are just too narrow to be able to get around them safely and the streetcar tracks are a scooter...

It's been a couple of weeks since I've been over this way so this might be old news, but I noticed signage up last night.

...and what's now the Crossroads was once considered "Midtown".
Also commonly was referenced as "Crosstown".....
Or, as I knew it the first time I passed through it decades ago, at night: "that creepy area south of downtown with all the abandoned buildings". How things change.

Tried to ride a Bird with a friend last night, spent 5 minutes looking for two around PNL that were on the map but not there :(
Meanwhile I keep seeing Birds parked on the sidewalk that aren't on the map. (But their lights are blinking so I assume they have power.)
