Re: OFFICIAL - Traders on Grand

One vestige of the bank — the drive-through — will remain as part of the new project and will serve a yet-to-be-identifed coffee shop. The two outer lanes of the drive-through will become ITMs — an internet-based hybrid cousin of the ATM. Mark Moberly, Sunflower’s director of development, said it w...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

I do not see anything not shown in the renderings. I think the exterior design of this building will be better received than the Cordish apartments. I was surprised in seeing this from the intersection of 13th & Wyandotte. Even though you could never actually see 670 from there, seeing this hotel f...

Re: Downtown Tanners closing?

Every time this thread gets bumped I get worried about the downtown Tanners, then remember it's been gone for a decade. It was funny going back to the start of this thread. I had all but forgotten about how every business that failed back then blamed either P&L or that customers couldn't smoke in th...

I don't go to AMC Theaters because people talk during the movies. #TeamAlamo
Same here! If I want to see a movie and it's not playing at Alamo, I usually prefer to wait for video than deal with the crowds and obnoxious people at the suburban AMCs.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Had it been barricaded because it was being worked on or was it because it had already been deemed dangerous?

Edit: Is this the building that was hit by a car several months ago?

Re: Misc Crossroads News

A building at the NE corner of 18th & Locust collapsed this morning. I think it’s the one on the corner that’s had the barricade around it, but I’m not sure.

It is a wide stretch for a four way stop... I think if it was reduced on the other side too, it may be doable.
Yeah, that could work.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I mean is a two block backup at rush hour really a mess? Cars not yielding to peds at a 4 way stop is just a mess that happens everywhere in this city because dick drivers. The car traffic, no. It's more the pedestrian issue. There were more pedestrians out than I normally see through there when th...

Define "mess"?
It’s better now, but at 5:00 traffic was backed up a couple blocks and pedestrians were hesitant to cross because they couldn’t tell if it was their turn or if it was safe.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

The Better Block design on Oak is exactly what should have been done a few months ago. Traffic moved along SB perfectly fine the first day and people were parked in the floating spots. About the only change I would have added is a temp middle turn lane instead of NB being two lanes. Is all the traf...

I mean, MIKC doesn't even have the proper hours on their door. I'd say they could at least step that up a tad.
What are the proper hours? Even online they are listed differently on different sources.

Mean Mule Distilling on Locust appears to be close to opening.
I've been trying to track this but they seem to have pretty much zero social media presence. Do you know if this just a production facility or will they have a tasting room too?

Event Sept 29 - 4th annual Tabs For Toys pub crawl

Inspired by the Splutschnik pub crawls several of us participated in (and Splutschnik-founder approved), this is our 4th annual fundraising event for the children spending the holidays at Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City. As long as you walk or use the streetcar, every bar in the entirety of dow...

Re: beer.

I was looking up a liquor license and noticed a new application for Alma Mader Brewing & Taproom at 2635 Southwest Boulevard. It's in consent phase right now and it looks like several of the residents in the area are angry about it, citing the smell of mash and the increased traffic & bad driving on...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

In terms of on campus development they could probably raze Cockefair Hall and build something on that block. That building was rotting apart even when I was there thirty years ago.

Good topic. Anton's back area. In NKC Chicken and Pickle usually has a few dogs around, pretty sure the o breweries in NKC are cool with dogs on their patios (cinder block, calibration and big rip) They don't have a patio but I've seen dogs in Call Sign, and I think I've seen a dog or two at Velo G...

Re: beer.

With all the different selections of beers coming around you would think a few bottle shops would start to open up or liquor stores would focus on single beer more than just 6 packs of craft beer. Nobody is going to want a 15 dollar 6 pack of Double IPA if they have never tried it before. The Bottl...
