Re: beer.

When they open, they'll be the *fifth* (edit, forgot about Brewery Emperial - *sixth* ) brewery within a 4ish-block radius of 18th & Locust. Funny... I personally keep forgetting to re-visit Brewery Emperial (I haven't been there since opening week) even though I usually end up parking next to ...

3) Garage access from Baltimore apparently doesn't provide an easy path to Main Street (garage layout is like a "double helix", I'm told... whatever that means). i was going to try and describe, but this image does a better job. http://www.berkeleyside.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Cente...

Hah, so at least displaced pedestrians will have a more aesthetically pleasing view as they are run over by trucks. :)

Re: OFFICIAL - Commerce Tower

Wow, 3 months for renovations seems a little overboard. Years ago I worked at best buy and we kept the store opened and had a team work overnights for 10 days and completely renovated the building including the restrooms and carpeting. What are they doing that would take months? Possibly re-opening...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Update on new weekday parking policy for City Market. Seems like a good compromise to help solve the problem.

Bonus: Includes Sue Burke once again crying and threatening to move her air filter business.

Re: Downtown Delivery

Yet another delivery business with goofy delivery parameters.

I can use this to order from a restaurant across the street from my wife's office, 5 miles away from my office.

She puts in her address and gets a message that there are no nearby restaurants that they deliver from.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

I've been noticing a lot of work being done on this building ( street view ) the past several weeks. The address on the building says 605 McGee, but the KC parcel viewer is calling it 601 McGee. I see open permits under the name "Joe's Lofts" but I haven't been able to find any other info ...

...when we're talking about "Winslow's space being huge" are we talking as is, or as it was prior to KC Soda Co. taking the front portion. Honest question b/c I never went in Winslow's having been convinced by anyone who'd ever eaten there that it was "not great". I have not hea...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I could see why Beignet would want a larger spot but Windows's space is huge for what is otherwise a quaint eats counter. Would hate to see this place ending up not making it if not able to handle the rent for a space that size. Maybe they have ambitions to become KC's Cafe du Monde. It is just abo...

That pic reminds me... has there been any activity yet with either the Cafe Al Dente or Winslow's spots? The landlords seemed in a hurry to send both packing but I haven't found anything since about plans for either spot.

Agreed. And if it had been in the hands of literally another other developer (apart from possibly Copaken), it would have been functioning as great loft space for a decade by now.

KCPD needs to start spending some time hanging out near 20th & Grand during the afternoon rush hour. There hasn't been a day yet that I haven't seen someone use the right-turn lane at 20th to jump ahead past everyone using Grand correctly, and earlier this week I saw two cars continue straight o...

Oops, my bad. The rendering looked like a north-south alignment to me... I was having trouble differentiating new-build from existing on the non-glass portions.

Re: Hospital Hill activity

Children's Mercy is such a maze that it took me a bit to determine where this room was located, but I've determined it was one of the north-facing windows of the tower right at the SW corner of 24th & Holmes. From this angle at least, the new building's northern end (the stairwell) would be just...

Re: Hospital Hill activity

That exposed stairwell is pretty cool. Wonder if that is to encourage using the stairwell. It looks like there's space as sort of an observation platform at each level. The skyline views from the patient rooms already rival the view from the main platform at Liberty Memorial -- in fact would exceed...

I was thinking about them just a couple of days ago. The food wasn't spectacular and it was pricey, but it was nice having a 24-hour food option other than Town Topic.

Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

A five story concrete elevator shaft has sprouted up near the 27th and Gillham intersection. Now can get some idea of an area that has been barren for most peoples memories will look when built up to this height. I came into work via 27th Street this morning for the first time this week and was sho...
