Tried to ride a Bird with a friend last night, spent 5 minutes looking for two around PNL that were on the map but not there :(
Meanwhile I keep seeing Birds parked on the sidewalk that aren't on the map. (But their lights are blinking so I assume they have power.)

Re: Google Maps just did another satellite view update for KC

Looks like the satellite update is from a Saturday morning about ~10am. Swaths of empty parking in Crossroads, while River Market surface parking is near capacity. My money is on May 5. My Google Photos archive of that day show it sunny and clear, with my redbuds in full bloom, and photos of people...

Re: Google Maps just did another satellite view update for KC

Desktop does show it too, but you have to disable 3D (which they recently changed to the "Globe" icon in the settings.) The 3D imagery is so old it shows the earliest stages of One Light. Thanks for the tip on disabling stupid 3d mode, couldn't find where they moved the setting to on desktop versio...

Re: Google Maps just did another satellite view update for KC

Only on mobile tho. Full desktop site still shows one light as a brown pit, My building(1914 Main) is still a surface lot. And also (on mobile) only when zoomed in a bit. Zoomed out on mobile still shows the old map. Desktop does show it too, but you have to disable 3D (which they recently changed ...

Except, on the line above that, "On Sidewalk" is one of the options for where the pedestrian was struck.

I tried to fix the picture in Photoshop, but now that it's legible the point being made is lost on me?

Connecting disconnected pathways

Earlier this evening I was on the Heart of America Bridge looking down directly above the path in Riverfront Park, and it occurred to me how near yet how far these two pathways are. So when I got home I routed out what the walk time is to get from where I was to the exact same spot 50-ish feet below...

Some new businesses in Crossroads & Westside I noticed while going through liquor license updates, unsure if any of these have been mentioned yet: * Grad School, a restaurant from Springfield, in the works for the old Jilly's/Coda spot. https://www.facebook.com/Grad-School-84764887589/ (Springfield ...

Re: KC Star building redevelopment

"A sports pub with several outdoor sand volleyball courts on the north side of the property at the northwest corner of 17th and McGee" I dunno, the sand volleyball courts just seems so weird to me. Wonder if we would be the first city in the US to have sand volleyball courts in a central downtown s...

New welcome arch sign going up on Armour tomorrow. This explains the odd curb bumpouts they installed last month at Armour & Buchanan that didn't seem serve any useful purpose.

No dearth of old buildings in NKC and they may be being more pioneering (like Callsign) with their location, but I wonder if this might finally be a re-use for Denim & Diamonds or possible the old Tapcade spot.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

Strange, I can't find any info searching via name or address. And Kiva doesn't show any open permits except for one for basement electrical work.

(Also strange because I drive by this building almost every day and hadn't noticed it was being worked on.)

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

What's with the scooter that seems to be perpetually parked at what looks like maybe a countertop manufacturing facility over in Armourdale? Seems like a bizarre place to be staging one as opposed to, say, Strawberry Hill. Maybe it's someone's house? It also doesn't appear that it got charged overn...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Practically speaking with no enforcement it was all-day parking already. You couldn't take the outside lanes because there were always cars parked in them. I think this is the main reason nothing seems different to me. I have never driven in the outside lanes, and never seen them anyone else do it ...
