Re: Bike Lanes

Driving grand yesterday was great. Traffic moved at a reasonable and safe speed, but was still just as efficient as before. As soon as I got to the end of the painted bike lanes on grand I found myself naturally gunning back to 40 and racing to the next stop light. You'd think crown center would wa...

It looks like they were hosted on kcskyscrapers.com, which no longer exists. And it appears that the Wayback Machine did not manage to salvage archives of any of the photo albums.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I looked at the pending licenses yesterday ...nothing in that report...there was one for the brewery...but that's 316 mcgee The license I pulled was at the state level. I like to use those because I can filter them to get exactly what I need, then import them directly into my DB. KCMO's report is e...

I saw the liquor license for that a few weeks back while making database updates for a charity pub crawl. Couldn't find any info whatsoever about it.

It's hard to believe how recently it was that Oak was way far east of the action and was pretty much a dead zone.

I found permits listed for both of the encroaching driveways, the encroaching home addition, and at least two of the encroaching garages/outbuildings.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Horrible encroachment.... Using the KCMO Parcel Viewer , I followed the entire length of the Trolley Track Trail and found 6 encroachments onto KCATA property. And all 6 are between 61st Terr and 62nd Terr -- DeJanes and her neighbors. ⋅ 6217 Brookside - As you noted above, half the drive...

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)

The only thing Union Cemetery needs to be a functioning park is gates on all sides open during daylight hours. People in the neighborhoods around it(me) could use it as a pleasant shortcut to Crown Center or Main St or PV Park. This. As one who takes leisurely walks through it every week, I would l...

Google Maps just did another satellite view update for KC

The imagery can't be more than a couple months old because it includes my new driveway. :) New things you can see include interior walls at the Berkeley Riverfront apartments and a nearly topped-off Two Light.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

(Reposted to the correct thread.) It isn't there anymore, but about a week ago there was a construction dumpster outside the building at the NW corner of 10th & Oak. (I believe it's one of the Abnos slums that would otherwise be a great building if owned by almost anyone else.) I saw people brin...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I can't imagine many are thinking of that...everybody I know is going to just step outside their office... Well, a lot of the downtown people who work south of the line of totality are thinking that. Downtown, you have to be north of a line running diagonally from 14th & Summit to 19th & Ch...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

So... for Total Eclipse Day, what are your all's thoughts on whether the streetcar will be able to handle the lunchtime crowd trying to get as far north as possible, or is it going to grid to a halt under the volumes of people & car traffic? Asking because some of my co-workers are planning to t...

Did you notice the one "coming soon" down at Longview Lake? That's interesting. Stations still notably absent from Liberty Memorial/PVP... Wait, so this isn't a bike share station being built at Liberty Memorial? It looks so much like the stub for one I thought all along that's what they ...

Re: Making downtown more pedestrian friendly

It didn't make the news (even though a similar accident in the Plaza did), but a woman and her child were struck by a car at 12th & McGee yesterday as they were walking to the Argyle. Those construction barricades along 12th for Traders and Grand are a menace with the reduced sight lines. If you...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

the layovers are union station are planned . yes, they should be shorter. that's not what contributes to waits elsewhere. with the layovers, headways are scheduled at 10-12 minutes all day long with three vehicles. So when you get on the streetcar at Union Station and it is completely full to the p...

Re: KC's quirks and oddities (keep it light)

I don't think I've ever heard anyone pronounce "Wornall" with an "e" but it's probable I just really haven't noticed. I noticed our peculiarity with how we describe highways basically as soon as I was old enough to drive to other regions on my own. But I've noticed a few more pec...
