Re: Westport

I was more comparing the Sarpinos in Westport with what I had out south at Sarpinos (OP or Leawood). The quality was better out South. I just assume it's harder to staff a place in the middle of the city that's open 'til 4a or whatever. They definitely fill a need - just not for me. It's definitely...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

With all the work they did to get it spruced up for the WW1 centennial, I'm surprised it looks this bad already. Though I can honestly say that it's been a very long time since I have noticed any of the fountains actually running.

Anyone have any updates on this project? Last I had seen it still looked like a giant dirt pit.
There are apartments currently under construction, but that's the only thing I've noticed recently.

Re: New Restaurants/Other Businesses in Northland

If I was a young person new to the city Northtowne would be the place I would live. It's close to downtown, easy access to Kansas and there is tons of walkability ... It actually has pretty bad access to Kansas compared to downtown. At least for places people tend to go to. ... It’s very easy to ge...

I remember once questioning why the North Loop stop was needed. It has since become the stop I use the most.

You could caption that photo "Broadway, Downtown Kansas City, Afternoon Rush Hour" and almost pass it off as the truth.

Anyone know what's going on in front of the NAIA building that apparently requires 2/3 of Grand to be blocked off?

As long as they don't screw up their Sunday brunch and they still serve scallops and steaks at our annual company holiday party, I don't care how they position themselves.

Re: Cactuses and Palms Trees in KC?

Scooterj, you posted this 14 years ago: Finding evergreen forests in eastern Douglas county is one of the ecosystem finds in the KC area that surprised me the most. . Do you remember where that was? Thanks. Oh, man... and what I was talking about was something I saw several years even before that. ...

Mildred’s Original Downtown Spot Shifts to More Visible Quarters https://cityscenekc.com/mildreds-original-downtown-location-moving-to-more-visible-quarters/ Most people associate Mildred’s, the popular cafe and coffee shop, with the Crossroads Arts District. But did you know there’s another Mildre...

Re: Fairfax District - changed from MO to KS in the 1800s

Before 1836 the Platte Purchase area was part of the Missouri Territory. Before Kansas was a state (1861), or even a territory (1854) the area now know as Kansas was part of the Missouri Territory. Platte was never in Kansas in any sense of the word. My bad.   Kansas wasn't even a territory at that...

Cool! I'd always thought the Liberty Bend shift happened due to natural flooding, I had no idea it was man-made and also so recent!

Burlington work is supposed to begin next year. I'm 95% certain they're removing a lane of parking for biking.
Hopefully it's the parking on the northbound side, though it'd be great if all the on-Burlington parking went away.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Main to grand is fully open now. Bad Google data I'd guess. Huh, weird. It was definitely closed yesterday, as I discovered too late much to my chagrin and was stuck trying to re-merge onto Grand from the bike lane in rush hour. :) (I couldn't see any obvious reason why it was closed, either.)

Re: Bike Lanes

ame applies to Crossroads: Dozens of intersections with cars legally parked too close to the intersection (less than 30 feet), thus creating major visibility issues. Hell that's pretty much anywhere downtown. 11th & McGee is one of several spots I see it consistently, making it even harder for driv...

Too many Crossroads projects to keep track of... anyone know which one is causing 19th St to be closed until July? (Just curious.) How do you know July? If it's east of Oak it's probably for the Milhaus project. Until mid-July is what it said when I clicked on it in Google Maps. This is west of Oak...

Meanwhile, at the opposite end of the spectrum, a cyclist was apparently hit o...
