Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Scooterj, do you have any additional photos before demolition of the Main Street Morgue building, and Nightmares , next door in that strip of buildings that included a formal attire store? It doesn't look like I have anything else. Everything I can find is from a high vantage point like in that lin...

Cool, I'd forgotten about some of these! Like that Hotel President photo with all the empty light bulb boxes. :)

I'm glad they finally pulled that boom truck back from the corner. It was making it really had to see to safely cross 10th street from the north.

Their times are always exaggerations. I would count on delays of 5-10 minutes.

True. I remember them talking about 75 minute delays for work around 470 & 40 late last summer and I don't think the actual delays even exceeded ~5 minutes.

Re: Interstate 70 KC to St Louis

KMBC Channel 9 just reported that construction will begin soon on repairs to the I-70 bridge near Rocheport, Missouri. They said to expect backups from 3 to 8 hours. MDOT blamed voters not passing the gas tax in November to fund a new bridge. Isn't this not until 2020 at the earliest? I can't find ...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

Agreed, but I'm not sure that a riverfront extension prohibits extensions elsewhere, i.e. to areas which are already somewhat developed and needing incentive to get more dense. If there are entities that have the power and money to push this extension, more power to them. The entities with the powe...

maybe the guy I'm thinking about is actually the owner....my zoo bar experience is on an annual basis.
If it's a senior male black lab, then you're right! That's Mikey, and every time I see him I go home and ask my dogs why they can't be that good so I can take them out in public.

Re: Dog friendly patios and places

zoo bar I believe allows one dog. Whomever that regular is that brings in his dog. They allow all dogs, as long as they stay well behaved. There are actually a few "dog regulars". There's a huge water bowl for them in the game room. Dogs that bark too much might get asked to leave, and if two dogs ...

Re: Heart of America Rapid Transit

Between 169 and 635 needs major work even though it is already 4 lanes, it is horribly designed and requires you to cut across 2 lanes in a short amount of area, if you are coming from 169 northbound and are heading to 29N like many people. It's gotten bad enough in that section that if I need to g...

Re: Shoal Creek Valley Neighborhood Plan

I wish these new neighborhoods connected more streets, so one doesn't get caught in these cul-de-sac gulags that force people to drive out of the way just to get over to the next street. I'm surprised the fire/emergency and police departments don't intervene with the city council and tell them how ...

I'm a germaphobe and that never occurred to me. Now I feel sick. I guess I subconsciously assumed the high ABV of the beer styles I prefer would take care of that sort of cross-contamination.

One of the rumors I saw said within walking distance of a lot of retro arcade games, which if it's true would mean either the Crossroads Screenland building or the building he owns at 3107 Gilham Rd.

On another beer-related note, Rock-and-Run is closing.

This is probably more important to those of us old enough to have a lot of memories of when it was well-lit. At that time it was the dominant feature of the skyline. I even have drawings of the city from when I was a kid where it's the most accurate feature. I'll gladly pay my share to see this lit ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I've noticed that the "To request a stop..." recording always seems to play when it's approaching the 7th Street stop, but I rarely hear it when approaching any of the others. Is it by design that it plays for stops that are less likely to have people waiting, or does it play if a stop is approachin...
