Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

Strange, I can't find any info searching via name or address. And Kiva doesn't show any open permits except for one for basement electrical work.

(Also strange because I drive by this building almost every day and hadn't noticed it was being worked on.)

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

What's with the scooter that seems to be perpetually parked at what looks like maybe a countertop manufacturing facility over in Armourdale? Seems like a bizarre place to be staging one as opposed to, say, Strawberry Hill. Maybe it's someone's house? It also doesn't appear that it got charged overn...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Practically speaking with no enforcement it was all-day parking already. You couldn't take the outside lanes because there were always cars parked in them. I think this is the main reason nothing seems different to me. I have never driven in the outside lanes, and never seen them anyone else do it ...

It's already making a positive impact on how the city looks from within the 670 trench.

Bummer, improved parking signage means more people are going to realize the place I usually park when going to iTap is in fact legal parking. ;)

Re: KC Riverfront Heritage Trail

The bumping of this thread made me realize something I hadn't even considered... with the I-70 construction I guess the path's connection to Kaw Point is broken for the next couple of years?

Will this include more crosswalks? I could be wrong but I don't believe there are any between Truman and 18th.

I was more irritated by the fact the article had to supply a link to explain what a flash cube is. (Which was then filled with comments by stunned kids wondering why light bulbs burned out so fast back then.)

Re: 1800 Walnut

It looks much better than what I was imagining in my head. The only concern that I have about height is that it may satisfy too much demand and delay prolong the existence of our parking lot hellscape. I don't think that this particular building will soak up all the demand or anything, but if a lot...

Wow they sure promoted that hard if it been there a few months. First I'd heard of it was when I saw the new banner at the end of last week.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I've been wondering what KCK's feelings would be about eliminating the only interstate freeway access to their downtown. Looks like their opinion is exactly what I expected it would be.

I-70 isn't going anywhere so we should just eliminate an exit or three, narrow the channel, and put a lid on it.

The owner of the building is apparently trying to pass the collapse off as an intentional part of the renovation process.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Park,_Kansas_City And apparently Walter Cronkite of all people was there to witness Electric Park II's fiery demise. This is my first time reading about this, quite an interesting piece of history! The park inspired a certain young Mr. Disney in the design of ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The sky bridge to St. Luke's would have been cool, but the expense of that makes it make a lot more sense as to why they would keep both 43rd & 45th instead of combining at 44th.

Interesting read!

Yeah, it's puzzling to me that they are converting a building already set up as apartments into a hotel, and a building already set up as a hotel into apartments.

I already saw a car in the bike lane yesterday- they were loading something up in their car. The parking spaces aren't fully painted though- maybe with the buffer, cars will do a better job of respecting the bike lanes. I saw a truck parked in the bike lane on Grand with its hazards on last night a...

^Yep! I noticed the freshly painted "BUS ONLY" markings on the pavement and a whole slew of covered up "No Parking" signs installed and waiting to be uncovered. I honestly don't remember this being too terrible when the Paseo Bridge broke after people had a couple of weeks to adj...
