Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Jesus, take a breath kids. Opposition to transit projects is normal. Everywhere. They sue in San Francisco to stop BRT routes from being built for Christ's sake. Sometimes I wonder if they're right about millennials and participation trophies after all... I also think people forget about this: http...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Kansas City is doomed and I'm gtfo as soon as possible. We will never be able to win against the brain dead rubes. They run every aspect of this backwards "city". I'm done. DONE. Meh, they'll all die off in a decade or two. Most of the idiots who are against transit tend to be in theirs 6...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

That is the whole point of Q1. They don't like the TDD because it wins. I suspect it will be deemed unconstitutional or something by council and not affect much except for bad press. I hope. and this vote again proves why the folks in Platte & Clay County, and probably Eastern/Southern Jackson ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

So, how does Question 1 hurt the TDD and the streetcar if the city IS actually taking it to voters? I mean the city is taking the issue to voters. Just not the entire city.

Meh, while Chastain's plan could help if passed, it isn't necessary. I'm more concerned about Q1.

If Q1 passes, then I hope the city's legal team can find a swift way to strike it down.

And this is just to form the TDD, not the vote to build it itself? I'm guessing that will go before voters in November?

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt Regency Convention Hotel

It passed the P&Z Committee and is on to the Council, which meets at 3:00pm today. What was the result? You would think this would be big news but I cannot find any mention of it in the Star today. I had heard that CFRG may take it to the courts if the city ignores their petition process (altho...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt Regency Convention Hotel

Are there any actual updates on the hotel itself, and how close we are to getting groundwork started?

The petition seems useless and pointless, especially if the city just settles everything and gets started. How close are they?

Highways to Boulevards

So the city has proposed decommissioning the North Loop and turning it into an area for redevelopment. Other successful projects like this have been in San Francisco (most notably), Seattle, Boston and a few other cities. There seems to be a direct correlation between the economic vitality of an urb...

Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

Believe these renderings to be of the condo portion of the plan, I believe these buildings will be on the west side of McGee Trafficway and on the southern side of 27th between McGee and Warwick. Renderings from Draw Architecture's website KCDowntown It's just my personal opinion, but black brick i...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

If it's easy to make buildings pedestrian friendly, why don't developers do it more often? Money etc... If you put in stores, that takes out parking stalls and requires you to add another story of parking. This jacks up the cost because you need to add even more concrete and structure to the cost. ...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

That project looks amazing, though I don't like the idea of a tower that tall in the city market area. Also, the design of the tower leaves a lot to be desired. But the idea of an open market is great. Honestly, I think they should do a big renovation of the current City Market. On the property betw...

Re: Cordish projects in other cities

When every mid-size city in the country has a downtown LIVE area of mediocre touristy blah, what will make our downtown LIVE area of mediocre touristy blah special? Does it have to be? What I mean by that, is although it's called the same, and owned by the same company, it doesn't necessarily need ...

Re: Six Light

What's the purpose in Cordish throwing out Fives and Sixes whenever they aren't yet willing to give details about Three and Four? Are they just trying to get the locals to salivate? Probably all in negotiations with the city, and discussing market, funding, land ownership, other deals etc... Things...
