I walked up to the fence a year ago to look at an interesting bird and a security guy came out of the shadows and challenged me.

I saw both of the Price Brothers outside with polaroid cameras taking pictures of the graffiti to prove that it is blighted, and a threat to the safety of pedestrians, and therefore must be torn down.

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

Oh no! With the renovation of the El Torreon and all the other activity over there, this seems like a prime place for a new apartment building with more restaurant patios etc. What a waste of real estate. Honestly with the El Torreon news, it's maybe a silver lining that there will be fewer residen...

Seems like a no-brainer. It would be nice to replicate that same terra cotta across the first couple of floors and blend it in, but saving it as-is would surely be easy to incorporate into the plan.

Construction work is well underway on the Welcome House project. Their website implies they aren't planning to demolish the historic buildings that their facilities are in (except for the single-storey newer building on the corner, which has already been demolished). https://i.postimg.cc/67x5JV3c/01...

Why Sunflower? Why not let me take a swing at it? I have a fun idea for this parcel that makes sense and would be beautiful (and the numbers work!). Things might look bleak here, but my team has dealt with far worse situations than this. Man, that sounds incredible. During the meeting with the plan...

Right. You need to use portland lime mortar for masonry repair like that. I couldn't see any packaging to tell what they were in fact using, but the finished job looks lovely. The aborted first attempt last winter looked like the original contractor was using quikrete.

Re: Disney's Laugh-O-Gram Studios

Most of the damage from the car slaloming into the corner of the building has been repaired. Shortly after the collision, they built up the corner post to about four feet, very badly. Used the wrong mortar, and it was all smeared and looked like a poor DIY job. They stopped work, removed the mortar,...

620 Linwood is owned by a slumlord with a largeish portfolio in the city. His properties are listed for sale well over what they're worth, he's content to let them sit empty; or he leases them as-is. There's no way he'd renovate that building on his own dime. If it moves, it's because someone else h...
