Re: We need a new airport!!!

If the vote is not "required" by anything other than a vote (wimp vote, I suspect, i.e. save our political asses) by a previous iteration of the Council, the current Council needs grow some, dump the promise and do what's right for the CSA of nearly 2.5 million people: new terminal.

"Why is an election necessary? Is it state law because bonds will be sold? Or is it because of a promise made by a former council? Or something else?" Does no one else view the requirement for a vote on such an important eco-deco issues an anomaly? Charlotte-Douglas has been under nearly c...

I suspect the owners also felt that by making the building look more 'modern' they would make it more marketable.

Re: Oak Tower

I think the emporis report is wrong. I was attending UMKC and living North when the Gothic disappeared. Twice a day I drove down Oak. It was a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure I remember it being removed. I sure remember feeling sick to my stomach.

The reason they include midtown and plaza as part of downtown is because only to locals are they separate entities. On airplane w atlantan: "where did you stay?" response: "Downtown on the Plaza." distinction only exists in your minds. Truly. Wake up. Release your minds.

Planning 10 story, 270000 sq ft. 50000 devoted to retail. Says they are "approved" for that. Larger still possible w big enough tenant. Lcra bought old lawyers bldg lot from city and sold to copaken who says they don't need the remaining lots but could be interested. Nothing imminent.

In June, I reserved two rental cars at KCI for pickup Sunday the 20th. I cancelled one of them immediately. I forgot that I had done that and cancelled the second reservation about a week ago. I realized my mistake and called back immediately to stop the cancellation or make a new reservation. My $3...

Love that picture of the prop planes. I grew up in Cameron which must have been in an approach path to the old airport. I remember the lazy drone of those planes passing over. Great sound effects on a summer afternoon. And if anyone comes up with a map of approach paths in the 50s and none go over C...

I don't think any of those ideas would be very expensive to implement and would bring so much to the city.

Re: OFFICIAL: Penn Valley Park (Ideas+redeveloment)

Does anyone else think that Penn Valley Park, with its relatively rugged terrain, would be a great place for outdoor sports? Not team sports, "terrain sports". Things like zipline, rock climbing, maybe rafting? Things like that. Seems better suited to vigorous activity than a quiet stroll.
