Re: West 39th Street Apartments

There needs to be a changing of the guard with neighborhood associations. Most are filled with older citizens who have been in the neighborhood for a very long time. They were, rightfully, concerned about safety and the destruction of historic properties during the white flight period. People like ...

Re: Westport

You’ll be excited to know that the committee in charge of implementing the Midtown Area Plan is exploring ways to extend the Plaza “bowl” concept north toward Westport. The most vocal people live in Rockhill and apparently have nothing better to do now that their feud with the Nelson has been settl...

Last night, I was too high downtown. And boy was I glad I wasn't in the suburbs.

Re: Troost developments

The fact this group is a non-profit with a "donate page" (although I wonder if they are actually 501c3) leads me to a question I have always had: why don't any of the wealthy, philanthropist families in KC do more to help development on Troost or the East Side? It could be under the form ...

Re: Westport

The irony here is nigro means black in Italian. If he would have said fungi, the health department might send an inspector. Sometimes it can be so hard to find the right words.

Re: Westport

I don't know of anywhere in KC to get decently priced crab anymore. The Pile of Debris has a crab leg buffet that lasts about 5 hours. I like to go and eat my fill right when they open, then I just sit in the booth and read a book for about 4 hours, then I eat another meal of crab legs. Ends up bei...

It doesn't say anything. I can think of one blaring example of an elected official that disproves your logic.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Just please, no flying cars. Unless they fly themselves. People driving on roads are enough of a menace to other vehicles, people, and property. flying cars won't be like BTTF where people are flying themselves. No insurance company will touch them unless any such tech is fully automated. Flying em...

Re: OFFICIAL - ARTerra (21st and Wyandotte)

The threshold is 51% and it's especially difficult for small buildings to convert. Basically, the first 51% of sales need to be conventional loans (which are very difficult to get) or cash, which makes the pool of buyers pretty small in a market like ours. The restrictions are a mess and need to be ...

Re: OFFICIAL - ARTerra (21st and Wyandotte)

There are lots of reasons, besides liabilities, for not building condos. And conversions can be tricky, mainly due to the Dodd Frank laws that were enacted in response to condo development problems tied to the housing bubble of 2008-ish. They make buyer financing very difficult. Also, a lot of devel...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The first headline I saw this morning was from KCTV Ch. 5, which said, "Kansas City voters narrowly approve new KC Streetcar plan". So, we can reasonably assume that the morons who wrote that headline are college-educated, in addition to being gainfully employed in the journalism industry,...
