Re: Grinders

That is an odd question. I've been going there regularly since they opened and it gets bigger each year. Now, I'm kind of old compared to some of you whipper snappers, but I think this year's line up looks like one of their best. I like Elvis, Buddy Guy, Primus, and John Butler; but, I don't even kn...

I'm glad you've got it figured out. But in the unlikely event you are at least partially incorrect, let's revisit this post in 10 years. At the current rate, you will have over 16,000 posts by then, unless you've got a self-posting computer. But that technology is laughable. That is, if your compute...

It would be like Knuckleheads when they train passes (under). Perhaps the organ player would jive with the rhythms that the driver made.

I've been a fan and supporter of mass transit/rail for over 30 years, but what happens in (say) 10-15 years when self-driving cars take over our freeways?

Or volunteers could go out and paint the land that is inside the TDD. A nice pale yellow or pink, perhaps.

Re: Kansas City GO Bond

why the hell would you vote no on sidewalks but yes on flood control? While I voted yes for all of those bonds, it was not easy. I walked the 3 blocks to my polling station and that required navigating 4 sections of torn up sidewalks. In this case, navigating meant walking in the street. If I was i...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

I went to Bryant's this weekend, overate; then went to Westport, got drunk and started a fight; then went over to Nutterville and robbed some poor hipster bastard. You guys are right, it was easy pickins, though all I got was a $3 peanut butter bar, an old Weezer shirt, and an ugly Pendleton jacket.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

That area is a big crime problem. Its a ghost town at night and a lot of people get mugged over in this area late at night. These kinds of blanket statements are sad and can directly affect people who live and work and own property and businesses in those areas. I'm sure I'm not the only one who go...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

I would argue that mixed use neighborhoods are better at deterring crime. Some people are there during the day, some at night. There are people living in Nutterville. Not a lot, but I have no doubt most of those houses wouldn't be there anymore or they would be in serious disrepair and there would b...

^^ So, if the federal funds don't come through, the council and mayor have to shoulder some of the responsibility by delaying the election? Those who agreed with the delay for the bond issue would also have some bland as well? If the mayor and council did not delay the expansion vote because they k...

You will need a lot of vision to re-purpose that building, after McClatchy defaults on their lease. Which probably wouldn't be long.
