Re: Four Light
I can't believe they have not even released a rendering for this. Downtown KC needs a tower crane!

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
What tax revenue do the teams generate for the city? Not property tax as the stadiums are owned by the county, correct? E-tax for player and staff salaries but even if the teams moved to KS some of those people might reside in KCMO still, so that plus sales tax on concessions. Let me know what othe...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
You can transfer the federal interest to another site. I was part of the team that planned these improvements. Not an impediment! So this site is still on the table for a ballpark? Again, I always though the KCATA needed to move from that location. They say it's a reason the agency can't even have ...

Re: Regional Transit Coordination
Lucas does not want to continue subsidizing other communities that choose not to invest in transit. Understandable. I’m not sure pulling kcmo’s funds will do anything to get them to pledge more dollars though. For the love of god, do transit funding at the county level like a normal community. All ...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPv8DpliNp4 So I guess the KCATA is not moving anytime soon. Video mentions they are doing improvements in 2025. I thought they were going to sell that property and move to a larger facility and free up the land for a more appropriate use to help tie the Jazz District...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I'm sure everyone is surprised, but I'm still down with North Loop!!! Move the 670 park donations to the plan re-establishing the street grid, build directly on the streetcar line and build the garages where the roadway is now before backfilling for buildings on the grid. Between two major highways...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
In an interview on KCUR Tara Raghuveer said KCT wasn't necessarily against an East Village location. Also, you would think it would be in the Royals best interests if they're going to ask the city for incentives to replace that affordable housing. I'd even say they should replace and add additional...

You know I love you grid, but I think you don't understand how horrific this vote was locally. They didn't reach out to anyone good at this. I'm confident we could pass a tax if the right people are involved. They just sucked. I get that. But I also think a lot of damage was done building up a no v...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Fantasy locations you say? West of Liberty Memorial, either where the ballfields are or get the IRS to consolidate somewhere else and put it there. IRS has always been my fantasy. That is after they built the PAC. The best location is was where the PAC is now. I wonder if Washington Sq Park will ma...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
^ They are spending 250 million on Arrowhead for the WC? On what? I honestly think the Royals moving downtown is dead now. They might try again with KCMO voters, but I doubt a city wide KCMO vote would pass now. The best location is that crossroads site and that will never pass a vote now. A lot of ...

Re: OFFICIAL: H&R Block HQ
Not suggesting turning H&R Block building into residential. That’d make no sense. I’m suggesting not chasing businesses with massive incentives and instead continuing to push for increasing levels of residential. The business will follow. Yeah, tend to agree with that. It's really the main prob...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Royals are looking good so far. How do people think that will effect the new stadium? I already see two stupid excuses. "Sherman is only fielding a competitive team this year to get his toy stadium". Never mind that this is simply the result of a multi-year rebuilding effort. It's not ...

Re: OFFICIAL: H&R Block HQ
In KC's case, anything is better than empty buildings, but I would hate to see one of KC's only modern class A office buildings turn residential. Not suggesting turning H&R Block building into residential. That’d make no sense. I’m suggesting not chasing businesses with massive incentives and i...

Re: OFFICIAL: H&R Block HQ
There are still office buildings going up in cities. They are mostly towers for single occupancy company headquarters, but they are going up.
In KC's case, anything is better than empty buildings, but I would hate to see one of KC's only modern class A office buildings turn residential.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Royals draw just fie when they are respectable. Not losing 90+ games. We stay on the pace we have set so far this season you will have near sellouts on the weekends by June. Biggest problem is over the last 30 years we are either in the playoffs or losing 90+ games, with a lot more of the latte...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Their home opener attendance this year was 38,775. Pretty close to sell out. I know it was a near sell out this years, but the Royals went 2-3 years prior to covid that were far from sell outs. A remarkable thing in MLB no matter how bad your team has been doing. Let alone at team that went to the ...
