Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Any chance at all KC could have at least the first phase of some sort of I-70 corridor rail in place by 2026? I mean, that's eight years to build 8 miles of light rail or commuter rail. It may not open all the way to Blue Springs or Lee's Summit by 2026, but it could be under construction or design ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Omaha has built several nice 12 to 15 story appt. towers on their riverfront. Think we should demand at least a 7 story minimum the rest of the way here. I would rather have the PortKC rendering of the riverfront over Omaha's riverfront any day of the week. Omaha's riverfront is the opposite of a d...

That is such prime real estate with limited space to develop with no NIMBY's nearby. Four story buildings seems pretty ine...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Not a fan of an entire affordable housing building next to the nice market rate building. I mean I get affordable housing can't have every Bell and whistle amenity but all affordable housing tends to turn into a mess. Yeah, they better be careful with this project. I thought the port authority woul...

Re: Capping the Loop

On 670 heading East under Bartle, the bottleneck with only one Eastbound Lane needs to be corrrected. Yes, that's one of the worst choke points in downtown. It makes the capacity of the 670 viaduct totally worthless. You fix that by first not allowing the west loop access to EB 670. (or WB 670 acce...

Re: Capping the Loop

Phase one is UC which just replaces the viaduct along the existing alignment. I don't think anything beyond that is even in the design phase yet. I could be wrong. Regardless, if KCK and Kdot are not interested in taking I-70 off the Lewis and Clark Viaduct then all this talk about removing 70 from ...

Re: Capping the Loop

They are not changing the alignment of the Lewis and Clark Viaduct (the sharp curve by Fairfax) are they? I thought they were just rebuilding it back the way it was. Your map says it's under construction. It's not a bad idea to turn I-35 south of Downtown back into a parkway, but it's extremely unli...

Re: Capping the Loop

Do you think battery busses will replace rail? Streetcars on rail with overhead wires will be obsolete within five years. Battery and autonomous tech is finally reaching a level that will make them an obvious choice over streetcars for all kinds of reasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2fR6gCew...

Re: Capping the Loop

What I'm saying is that all through traffic should be routed through 670. The north loop should not have any through traffic. Most of the problems in downtown KC is with through traffic changes lanes all over the place to stay through and local traffic merging on and off at the same time. You could ...

Re: Capping the Loop

The only real bottleneck on the south side of the loop is people coming from or going to the 670 viaduct because it narrows to one through lane. You fix that and you have massive capacity, especially going to KCK where 670 is wide open with no resistance. The North Loop is just not needed. All it d...

Re: Capping the Loop

The loop will be capped when the sun sets in the south/southeast, during pleasant weather – even though it may coincide with hell freezing over. No kidding. It's pretty much a pipe dream to just to get the freeway capped/removed let alone build this fantasy stuff on top of it when half of the downt...

Looks like they refined the facade some too and added some detail to the north side of the windows upper floors. http://dnpt4lt4gxlt9.cloudfront.net/uploads/2018/05/30165640/Kansas-City-Loews-980x6001.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c230/vegas2kc/Hotel%20more%20glass_zpskdihftl9.jpg

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

^ there is more to it than that. From an urban planning perspective it's not a good location. Maybe they will blow my mind with the design of the new BAP and I'll eat my words.

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Does anyone know why the past location is completely off the table? Collision keeps demanding that property will never be used for UMKC but offers no details. Sounds like hard feelings when the deal fell through and a sob story. 17th & Broadway is easily the best and only location for UMKC. BAP...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

For the record, BA is getting some pretty significant incentives to fly out of BWI where you have a pretty large market to pull from. https://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/news/2016/01/26/british-airways-could-get-nearly-6m-per-year-to.html It would take a pretty serious commitment from the business...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!

Sharing a MO NBA team could address NHL overlap at STL arena. And investors (edit: as well as larger fan base) from both markets could reduce risk. And could help build KC/STL relationships. For a few seasons the Kings had home games both in KC and Omaha. Not conductive at all for the team as a who...

If Mall of American can have a Walgreens, then the Plaza can have one! Plaza needs some roller coasters too.

Re: 13th and Grand tower

There really is not a better location in the city for large tower than that spot. It's sad it's a freaking parking lot that might be a small office building in ten years. I honestly don't see Copaken ever doing anything productive with it. Somebody else needs to come in and buy the land and develop...
