Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Well, this would have been amazing. I have never seen this or know what it was for, but someday downtown KC will get some really impressive or at least interesting new towers.

Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

Looks like a 10-story project. If they smartened up the exterior a bit from this rendering (a little more modern and urban please) I don't hate it. Is the parking garage under the building or adjacent? Hard to tell. For that prime lot, a 2-story parking garage is on par with as bad as a 4 story hot...

Re: Drury Plaza Hotel

What a drastic "reduction" in density. Dumb. They are treating the site like a suburban greenfield site. Actually most of Drury's newer suburban hotels are more dense and taller than this. And they want a tiff? This would be great project to say no to and prove the city does not rubber stamp tif pro...

Re: Proposed: Hyatt House Hotel- 900 Broadway

Nice. That will have some incredible views from the rooftop too. Wonder why there is a such a large gap between it and the exiting building next door. I'm not sure that the gap is very large. I think the rendering is a bit tapered to make the building seem less blocky. look at the gap at the sidewa...

Re: 1800 Walnut

I love everything about this project. Nice design! The city should basically rubber stamp this as far as the design and height goes. Hopefully the street interaction is good.

It's interesting that this project has come out of nowhere and could break ground many months before Three Light.

They could use the same lane use signal control they use for reversible lanes such as these in Silver Spring MD. https://www.google.com/maps/@38.9975231,-77.0271006,3a,75y,213.88h,76.61t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQGdePXdtO62LhSOdNTkqoQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 The parking lane would get a green arrow during pea...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

yes. Cool. It would cost a little more, but it would be well worth it in the long run, especially if it were designed to be easily upgraded to dedicated ROW in the future. Why not restrict parking during peak hours and not allow driving on the track lane during peak hours? That would keep four thro...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Are they seriously considering running center lane? That would be much better if they did that because you would have far less opportunity for parked cars, delivery vehicles etc blocking and delaying the streetcars. It would also be easier to convert portions of it to dedicated right of way in the f...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

It would be really nice to have a dedicated right of way, but traffic volumes on Main Street are pretty low. Even during peak times, traffic rarely builds up or queues anywhere along Main Street. Also, there are not really any major venues that would cause major congestion along Main like you have i...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Any chance at all KC could have at least the first phase of some sort of I-70 corridor rail in place by 2026? I mean, that's eight years to build 8 miles of light rail or commuter rail. It may not open all the way to Blue Springs or Lee's Summit by 2026, but it could be under construction or design ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Omaha has built several nice 12 to 15 story appt. towers on their riverfront. Think we should demand at least a 7 story minimum the rest of the way here. I would rather have the PortKC rendering of the riverfront over Omaha's riverfront any day of the week. Omaha's riverfront is the opposite of a d...

Omaha has built several nice 12 to 15 story appt. towers on their riverfront. Think we should demand at least a 7 story minimum the rest of the way here. That's all I'm saying. That is such prime real estate with limited space to develop with no NIMBY's nearby. Four story buildings seems pretty ine...

Not a fan of an entire affordable housing building next to the nice market rate building. I mean I get affordable housing can't have every Bell and whistle amenity but all affordable housing tends to turn into a mess. Yeah, they better be careful with this project. Re: Capping the Loop

On 670 heading East under Bartle, the bottleneck with only one Eastbound Lane needs to be corrrected. Yes, that's one of the worst choke points in downtown. It makes the capacity of the 670 viaduct totally worthless. You fix that by first not allowing the west loop access to EB 670. (or WB 670 acce...

Re: Capping the Loop

Phase one is UC which just replaces the viaduct along the existing alignment. I don't think anything beyond that is even in the design phase yet. I could be wrong. Regardless, if KCK and Kdot are not interested in taking I-70 off the Lewis and Clark Viaduct then all this talk about removing 70 from ...

Re: Capping the Loop

They are not changing the alignment of the Lewis and Clark Viaduct (the sharp curve by Fairfax) are they? I thought they were just rebuilding it back the way it was. Your map says it's under construction. It's not a bad idea to turn I-35 south of Downtown back into a parkway, but it's extremely unli...

Re: Capping the Loop

Do you think battery busses will replace rail? Streetcars on rail with overhead wires will be obsolete within five years. Battery and autonomous tech is finally reaching a level that will make them an obvious choice over streetcars for all kinds of reasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2fR6gCew...
