Re: Five Light

If they ever build four light, it won't matter anyway, It will be behind the wall. But Main street will become quite the urban canyon in the loop.

Re: Five Light

Wow, I really like this design. I think it's perfect for the location. Putting the garage up above the retail keeps the street interaction intact and increases the height of what would otherwise be a rather small office tower. The design is something very new and different for downtown. Looks like a...

Proposed tower on Plaza

I'm not sure I even like this plan. The rendering doesn't look all that great and I really do wish KC would keep the historic church and build this some place else. It's buildings like that church that give an area urban character. It seems like places like Boston and Philly don't have to tear down ...

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

Three Light hasn't gotten off the ground yet because of the idiocy that the city council pulled in renegading on their end of the longstanding contract with Cordish that began our DT revitalization. That's it. Cordish has NO motivation to move forward on anything quickly now that the city council h...

Re: Heart of America Rapid Transit

What a terrible master plan. When will people understand that there is pretty much ZERO justification for any sort of fixed rail to KCI Airport, let alone heavy rail. Realize that rail doesn't NEED to have justification by itself. Rail to the airport is a great plan when you take away the need for ...

Ebikes are awesome. Perfect for a hilly city like KC. I like how they are trying to keep the bikes parked at dedicated bike stations even though they are dockless.

Is there any renderings or final alignment plans for the new bridge or has nothing been decided?

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

I agree with Grid. I work downtown and have for 12 years and it still feels dead most of the day (excluding lunch). There are just no people walking around. In my building, 1KCP, Swiss Re recently moved in which pretty much has maxed out the tower. Still pissed Cerner is not interested in building ...

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

That article states that One and Two light are only around 80% occupied and some of other new properties are pretty low. This could be a main reason for Three Light taking so long to get off the ground. Three Light hasn't gotten off the ground yet because of the idiocy that the city council pulled ...

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

This should be going up on the riverfront or east village or east crosssroads etc. (of course in a more urban design). The KC area already has SO MUCH suburban office space. Most metro areas are building very little suburban office space right now while downtown office towers are going up again in m...

Re: Are downtown apartment occupancy rapidly trending down?

https://cityscenekc.com/downtown-dazzle-urban-homes-tour-this-saturday/ With the lack of downtown jobs (especially tech type jobs that appeal to younger people) you have to think downtown is reaching that saturation point of those willing to pay more to live downtown AND commute to suburban jobs. I...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

It may turn out fine and do its job and no matter what it will be 100 times better than the current terminals. But so far, I'm so disappointed in the renderings and basic design. It looks like they re purposed a vacant walmart for the new main terminal. This thing looks like it will be the most basi...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

Still wish this were one 40 story tower rather than two 20 story towers in an L shape. It will still be nice though. I just hope it does what it's supposed to do. It seems like other similar sized cities are still building more hotel rooms than KC near their convention centers. Indy just announced t...

Re: OFFICIAL - The Gallerie (27th & Gillham)

I really like the architectural style of this. I think this will age better than some of the other stuff going up like the new apartments on the riverfront and the corner was nicely done. Hopefully this entire area builds out quickly so union hill is better connected to crown center.

I think it turned out better than the renderings. It looks awesome to me. Very nice contrast to the surrounding brick buildings, it has some industrial charm, but it's not overdone. Very nice.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Any frequent flyers think this new terminal seems kind of small? It just looks oddly small to me. Maybe it doesn't need to be any bigger, but for a major mid sized airport, it just looks small for a modern single terminal. And not having a couple of covered ped bridges from the garage to the termina...

Re: Downtown office vacancy

Yep saw that article from Kevin Collison. Really need some new Class A space downtown for just this type of opportunity. Most firms adding or re-locating jobs don't want to wait 24 months or so for a new tower to be built. Even a 10-15 story office tower would be a good start, anywhere between the ...
