Re: We need a new airport!!!

Anybody know if they are keeping the current rental car facility or moving it to the new garage? I seems odd to relocate such a new facility, so I don't see it happening, but I have read where it's a possibility.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Wow, I love the AECOM design. I actually don't like the B&M nearly as much. It seems too 1960's or something. I liked Aecom's as well. It will be interesting to see how the city responds and if they will go "against" the hometown team.... Either one would be an amazing improvement. IT...

Why would they build a two story building in that location? At least put a few floors of residential on top the office.

Re: Three Light

I'm really surprised that KC has not gotten the attention of a few out of town developers to propose a new residential high rise. Most new projects going up in cities like Nashville are from developers in Chicago etc looking for the "next" cities ripe for such construction. I know many, if...

Re: My Website (City photos)

Well, at least I got a couple of replies. Appreciate it very much. I am looking for negative feedback if you have any. Missingkc, that's good to hear. I think we met once way back, but it's been a long time. I'll be in KC probably within the next month. I'm there a few times a year and always get at...

My Website (City photos)

I hope people don't mind if I post a link to my website here. I launched a new website and am trying to get some traffic flowing to it. Plus I thought people here might at least enjoy the KC pics on the site, if not all the other cities. Any feedback (positive or negative) would be greatly appreciat...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I'm not hyper critical of new buildings on vacant or underused land because when I see new urban construction in fast growing, booming, trendy and coastal cities, from Portland to Brooklyn, 98% of it is every bit as uninspired, boring, tepid and soulless as this project, the Cornish towers, or anyt...

This "could" be bad news for Four Light (hotel portion) or it could be good news if Cordish wants to own the entire south side of the skyline.

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)

I thought Live! was a Cordish thing. Seems cheesy to me. And the developers of a 300 million dollar hotel don't realize what state they are building it in or that downtown KC is on the Missouri side? I will never understand that. KCK will be pleased they are getting a Lowes, but those foot bridges t...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Are you suggesting don't even bother giving feedback with intent for changes?` Not at all. I think your feedback is great. My only point was it's probably going to turn out pretty nice, but you definitely want to be vocal about what you want to see built. I do think KC's developers and government o...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I agree with what you are saying. I mean KCMO should have gotten a LOT more out of the Cerner deal for example. The cordish towers and convention hotel seem too conservative and feedback keeps developers from delivering too much blahh. But at the same time, the city is really dragging its feet on ca...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I guess I'm being more realistic. KC is not Toronto and I don't see something like that ever happening on the riverfront. A development of that size would take away a lot of potential development in other parts of the city that have more ability to create critical mass. If KC had a developer that co...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I think you guys are being too hard on this. That is just a rendering and the rendering which shows no detail and it's an aerial which gives you little feel for how it would be a street level. I really think at street level, this would turn out pretty nice. It will be a quiet, residential neighborho...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The point on the separated people movement and tiered parking means you pay for convenience and speed makes sense. And that connects to another holy grail of our airport. Rail and how to pay for it. One thing pointed out is space for a train will be built into the plan (could make great to downtown...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Southwest has moved into most hub airports bringing prices way down. It used to be crazy expensive to fly to MSP, Denver, Detroit etc. Now it’s mostly the lower tier airports (which KCI has become) that are more expensive to fly into. KCI is now more like OKC, Omaha, Des Moines etc with just enough ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The garage exit overlaps with everyone else, the busses, hotel shuttles and such. The garage shouldn't be accessed from anywhere near the terminal entrance or exit. That's a design issue, not a management issue. I did an airport pickup last week and it said the B garage may be full and valet was ba...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

Something seems to be delaying this project. Are there any signs of the next phase starting? This is supposed to be a ten year build out, but in order to do that, they would need to basically go from one phase directly to the next, not have years (or even months) of inactivity between phases. I'm ho...
