Re: Main Street MAX

Moving the MAX to broadway or Gillham would not "leave the urban core...without high quality bus service"...not to mention the Troost MAX is already there serving the urban core. Secondly adding the streetcar to midtown would make that corridor much more transit friendly....it wouldn't be...

Re: Main Street MAX

The X2 v DC streetcar comparison is flawed. The X2 goes way further than the initial streetcar segment and runs more frequently than the streetcar. Main Street MAX is not particularly useful south of Plaza, with headways no higher than 20 min during weekday peaks. Streetcar will run more frequently...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

I like the color of the glass. Nothing else like that downtown although it's similar to the Sprint Center. Two Light is considerably different from One light, so if Cordish continues with at least making them different, I don't think the wall thing will be a huge deal. I think all the "One Ligh...

Re: Main Street MAX

Getting rid of MAX between downtown and UMKC (regardless of route) sure sounds like a bad idea. That's like taking two steps forward with the streetcar, but then taking about 1.5 steps back. KC needs high frequency, faster service of max buses to compliment the streetcars and add capacity when neede...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

I had my worst experience ever at KCI this week. Late afternoon flight out of B37 (Southwest). Had to use the restroom past security, which I don't think I've done for a while and I was truly disgusted. It reeked of urine. There were puddles of urine and splashed water from sinks everywhere. Speaki...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt Regency Convention Hotel

No change in design. Logo on building changed and that's it. http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2017/06/21/convention-hotel-raises-a-different-flag.html This may be good for KC because Hyatt still wants to be back in downtown KC so they may do their own separate project from the convention c...

Re: KC Bike share

Impressive expansion so far. It looks like KC had gained a lot of ground here. This combined with the streetcar has been a pretty dramatic improvement. The biggest thing that KC has to do still seems to be the actual on/off street infrastructure of dedicated bike lanes along most major corridors and...

Re: KC Bike share

Having both options is not a bad idea in case you need the basket for something. The stations just won't look at sleek with one bike style.

Re: KC Bike share

Do you complain in those other cities when you have the bikes out all day and get charged more money like you did when you came back and used kc's?? I do like the colors better... May try one or today and see how they ride. I don't like the 1.5 version bike that has the short front basket... The ba...

Re: KC Bike share

Those new bikes are MUCH better. KC's existing bikes look sort of ridiculous and are very heavy. I use these systems all across the country and those new bikes are much more like what you find in larger more popular systems. I hope KC's system is doing well.

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt Regency Convention Hotel

I don't think this looks too bad. It would be nice if taller, but it will be a pretty substantial building in that location and the latest design is not bad. Also, it's near the convention center, which is pretty much a dead zone for pedestrians anyway, just like convention center districts are in e...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Has there been any reporting on the estimated increase in food and retail from a new airport, including sales tax estimates? I don't have it in front of me, but I recall the increase in revenue from all economic activity from more retail and restaurants to be something like 60-80%. KCI is probably ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Great article in the KC Business Journal about KCI. The nearly 30 minute average wait time if or KCI is actually accurate. http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2017/03/17/airport-power-rankings-the-costs-of-keeping-kci-in.html KCI is a serious mess and it's doing tremendous economic harm to me...

Re: Five Light

The streetcar needs to cross the river and run to downtown NKC, not to the casino. NKC isn't interested, so that isn't go anywhere for the time being. Bummer. I know they are looking at extending to Berkley Park. Hopefully they are doing that with keeping in mind a river crossing in the future. It ...

Re: Five Light

No way. Casinos absolutely suck. Have you been to a downtown area that has casinos? Detroit, St Louis, New Orleans, Baltimore? Where the casinos are happen to be the most depressing areas of the downtowns. They do nothing for the vibrancy of the city, actually they hurt it. In response to the St. L...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

This is still the biggest missed opportunity in the history of Kansas City. Period. Had this gone downtown, it would have put KC into a totally different league of cities. This one project would have done that. Instead, the 4.5 billion dollar project (one of the biggest corporate welfare projects i...

Re: Washington Sq Park between Crown Center/Union Station

http://www.coenpartners.com/washington_square.html http://urbanangle.net/a-new-vision-for-washington-square-park/ Has anything happened with this thing since 2014? This should be one of the top priorities for KCMO. What if the city were to make this part of a bigger project to improve recreation? R...

Re: Five Light

Could you share any details about 3 or 4 light? Still working on the financing for three light but they want to break ground before Two Light opens. I've not heard much about four light but the hotel combo or hotel only is looking to be a realistic option as Cordish has recently gotten into the hot...
