Re: H&R Block's Second Tower?

The garage at 11th and Main has been prepped for a tower for decades and nothing has materialized. Till there is a tower crane up, I tend to expect nothing will happen. This is not just in KC, but in just about every mid sized city, but especially KC. With Cerner building 4 million sq ft and the Spr...

Re: OFFICIAL - Crossroads Hotel (2107 Central)

Is this hotel open? I don't see that it is online anywhere. If it's not, we are looking for an interesting place to stay in downtown on Sunday night. (coming in for the Chiefs game). Any ideas?

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

Everybody keeps saying "no parking" this hotel is being built next to an underutilized garage. I'm sure it will use/share that garage. Valet could even use the PAC garage. If that garage was not there, this hotel would likely have it's own parking structure which would probably make the project fina...

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

We stayed in the new Hotel X in Toronto last weekend. https://hotelxtoronto.com/en/ It's a very modern luxury hotel. The rooms were average, to maybe even a bit smaller than your average room. But the beds, sheets, pillows, lighting, finishes etc were all way above normal hotel rooms. Remote control...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

I never quite understood the push to move the conservatory downtown. KC desperately needs a large, thriving urban university campus/district. Build it at the UMKC campus and stop building suburban low rise apartment buildings for housing and go up higher with more density instead. Build out UMKC.

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West

What a bizarre location for a stand alone hard rock hotel. Please tell me this is not another STAR bonded project. That would probably explain a lot. You can “force” a development to happen when you throw enough money at it.

Re: Layoffs at The Star

Says here that KC Star has more subscriptions than StL Post Dispatch https://247wallst.com/media/2017/01/24/americas-100-largest-newspapers/ I get the paper copy of the Washington Post so I'm used to its size and content. It's actually a very good paper full of great national and world articles and ...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I’m just impressed that somebody read that bloated post with enough comprehension to reply to it! I can get really wordy when typing sometimes. I’m very familiar with the systems in Denver and Houston as well as similar systems (Baltimore, MSP, SLC etc) where light rail trains function more like str...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I agree Grid, I think it would be crazy to run the streetcar out to TSC, or any rail for that matter. Total waste of resources. As long we're stuck with TSC, let's just enjoy the fact that we have two beautiful, borderline historic stadiums, maybe push for better surrounding infrastructure (and per...

I think it looks nice. You can really see how much they exaggerated the architectural details in that rendering though. The actual building is far more subdued, but I think it will be a nice addition to the freighthouse area.

Re: OFFICIAL: East Village downtown neighborhood

I don't understand why east village is having such a hard time. The location is great. It might be on the more depressed side of downtown, but you basically have a blank canvas to work once done it would just flow with the rest of downtown. It's not like they are trying to build this east of the loo...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Concept design has been presented. Lol at anyone that thinks the design is going to significantly get “better” from this stage forward or that the cool roof is going to magically reappear. It’s called value engineering, and it’s just the beginning. What we’ve got here is a bargain basement terminal...

According to that map, the streetcar will go into the country club right of way south of Cleaver. Does that mean it will be on its own bridge over Brush Creek?

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

One of our lowest scores in the FIFA review and the biggest feasible improvement KC could make is improving connectivity to the stadiums. I recommended Streetcar expansion in my opinion makes the most sense long term to help develop the east side. Obviously, funding + time frame would be difficulty...

And is Road Rage purely an American thing? It seems like more and more people are getting pissed off at drivers and things turn violent pretty quickly so if u did correct a bad driver or u were the bad driver there is a chance u could get hurt in the process Not according to Youtube. The original design of the roof looks 100 times better. I hope they can bring it back. It's not the end of the world if the main terminal is a box, but I was hoping for more of a wow factor.

Re: Interstate 70 KC to St Louis

Since about 90% of the cars in Europe are Manual, does having a manual make you more of an attentive and possibly better driver? I mean about 95% of the people in the US do not know how to drive a manual and they are unable to be stolen by most thieves. Maybe but a lot of European countries do not ...

Re: Interstate 70 KC to St Louis

I drove around Europe (UK, France and Netherlands) this summer and the way people drive alone makes me want to move there. People drive fast, but attentive without distraction. They always signal, they always immediately move over to the next lane after passing and each lane is progressively faster...
