Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Plenty of "Kansas" bashing on WaPo chat over this... https://www.washingtonpost.com/science/2019/06/13/usda-research-agencies-will-move-kansas-city-region-perdue-announces/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.c63e4c10366f People in the DC area despise of the midwest (culturally), especially points past Ohio (K...

I threw a quick rendering together with it in the skyline if you have a place to host it.

Re: Three Light

Wow, I think they just might pull this off. I think this looks really good vs what I was expecting. I think they really tried to break up the monotony of the glass wall and did a pretty good job concerning the footprint they are working with.

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

I don't think this project has anything to do with the streetcar. It has to do with development rights, being part of the existing cordish development etc. But they need to get the thing up. It will suck if it takes years to break ground on this. Downtown needs new class A office space so bad.

Re: Wendys

What the hell. Last time I was in town, I noticed the relatively new Wendys across 70 was vacant. Why would they build another one so close? So much waste when it comes to retail space in KC area. There is no reason what so ever to be building any new retail in the KC area. So much old space should ...

This is 100% my favorite project in KC right now. It's going to be massive and really change the face of Main St.
yeah, this is probably the biggest game changer to date for downtown KC. It's going to totally change the vibe of the entire crossroads district.

I don't get the ferris wheel. I'm sure it's just for the renderings and will never happen.

Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?

Is is finally happening? KC going to start building up some urban recreation??? KC is literally behind every single city in the country on this type of stuff and I was wondering if it would ever get going there. This is a really nice project. It's a good start.

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

Losing Pro Teams might be the most major impact of no longer being a Top 30 metro but there will probably be many other impacts too, like when services rollout something to the top 30 markets, etc. I'm in the camp that no strong university will continue to be a major factor for comparably slower gr...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Weekday ridership continues to increase. Right, as it should with all the residents moving downtown. That's why I said "weekends" when I mentioned the suburban people playing on it. And personally, there is absolutely noting wrong with that either. The streetcar is exposing people to downtown even ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

^ Because it’s a streetcar, for the benefit mostly for those living alongside it. It’s not a commuter rail and never will be. It’s not going to connect to Liberty or the airport or JOCO or the stadiums. Those would all be bigger trains that would connect at some point along the line. We can see tha...

Re: Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort

I think it's been obvious for a year that Schlitterbahn has no interest in re-opening the park. It won't open this year at all and will probably re-open under new ownership (possibly as a city owned waterpark) the following year. If it sits vacant more than a year, it will likely be torn down comple...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I don't get the curb running thing. Can somebody explain why they chose to do that? It just seems to really cheapen the entire investment and permanent solidify that this will forever be nothing more than a local tram and not light rail lite. Getting caught up in traffic, parked cars, traffic signal...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Don't think they are going away. They continue to open new ones and modernize older ones in the DC area in places like Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville, Alexandria, etc. I think theaters are still a very important part of a major dense mixed used district (urban or suburban). People that live in t...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

That is really bizarre. Theaters are almost always a big part of a mixed use urban district like the plaza. Every single district similar to the plaza (most are downtown of suburbs), in the DC area has a major theater complex. So this will leave the entire urban core with one theater? Seems like an ...
