Re: Troost developments

Noticed today that there is actual signage up for EOT Brewery (East of Troost) today. Couldn’t find any actual social presence or articles about the brewery, so still not sure if it a real place? Those are some nice looking signs, so I don't think they are placeholders. I'm thinking EOT Brewing wil...

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

I think the locals won't be happy about a chain, but I bet it will still do good business, drawing from KU Med.

When that Chipotle opened, it was the first one outside of Colorado, so it was barely a chain at that time.

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!

It looks like a Panera is going into the former market space in the West 39th St Apartments building.

Re: Troost developments

I just noticed in Compass KC that a replat application has been submitted for 2501 Troost. This is the site where Andrew Brain had proposed the twin towers. I don't see a lot of info available, but it does say 242 units. The original proposal included 350 units, but it is no surprise that it would b...

Re: Troost developments

I just glanced over the permits for that building and can find some for the known commercial tenants (Blip and Bike Walk KC), but I don't see anything for EOT. I'm guessing it may still be just for marketing purposes.

Re: Uptown Shoppes

Here is a rendering showing the hotel massing. I wouldn't put too much stock in this image - they probably didn't put a whole lot of time or thought into the hotel portion that may never happen - but I wonder why they appear to have it oriented more towards Valentine than Broadway. http://i64.tinyp...

Re: Troost developments

I noticed a brick worker back in action today on the Firestone building, so hopefully they will get everything repaired. Up To Date on KCUR spend a big chunk of today's program discussing the redevelopment of 31st and Troost. They focused a lot on broad issues like gentrification and didn't get too ...

Re: Troost developments

That is the Acme Cleaning building. The same Colorado developer who is behind the Wonder Lofts at 30th and Troost is renovating it. I believe it will be all residential (28 units). At one point, they might have been discussing a mixed-use component, but I think that is no longer the case

Re: Troost developments

Also, the building at Linwood and Gilliam is being worked on. The wood window coverings were removed a few weeks ago. That one could look nice. Anyone have info? I'm not sure if you are referring to the building on Gillham Rd or Gillham Plaza, because there are buildings being renovated on both of ...

Re: Troost developments

It is possible that they were intentionally removed, but they look more broken off to me. You can see the Firestone logo piece still sitting behind there, so if it is going for restoration, it hasn't made it very far. There were also no signs of any work going on, or even any tools/materials from th...

Re: Troost developments

Well, the cast concrete details on the Firestone building look a lot better with the staining/discoloration gone, but I don't love the way the brick looks now. More significantly, it looks like the cleaners may have caused some considerable damage: Before: https://preview.ibb.co/d7ywre/firestone_bef...

The garage/site is back on the market, listed at $3.8M.

I wonder if it sold at the auction and whoever bought it is just flipping it.

Re: Troost developments

So did Clemons take ownership?

Getting the property out of the Herrons' hands (and having a clean title) sounds like a good thing.

Do you know if more of their properties are being foreclosed?

Cool. Looks like a good start. I'll keep an eye on it.

Here is another site that tracks development, if you want to use it as another resource:

Re: Uptown Shoppes

It looks like things are starting to move forward with the redevelopment plan of the Uptown Shoppes. A blight study and an application for rezoning have been submitted. I don't see any renderings or site plans, but there is a description stating a "mixed use development (211 apt, 92 rooms hotel & 43...

Which was the Tim Bowman project? Was that part of Troost Market Collective?

It looks like the building is still on the market, but maybe it hasn't been updated yet.

Re: Troost developments

The parapet detail work on the Firestone building at Linwwod and Troost is getting cleaned up. Anyone know if there is anything behind that (new owner/tenant)? Something called Dream Muscle Coffee is going into the former Urban Cafe space. I was thinking that "dream muscle" might refer to the brain....

Re: Open Spaces - Kansas City Arts Experience

The Ethnic Fest was pretty packed this year on the day I went. I hadn't been in a few years and I was surprised at the size of the crowd. Any more people and it probably would have been too much. I'm planning on going to Open Spaces on Sunday. On the general topic of festivals, I would love to see S...

Re: Pendleton Heights rocks!

I saw someone had submitted a plan to build two infill single family homes at 119 and 121 Brooklyn Ave. I'm not sure who is behind it, but I wonder if this could start a trend of some more infill sfh in the area. I only see the plans/drawings for one home: 2 Bed, 1200 sqft home. This rendering they ...
