Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom

Add the Uptown Shoppes redevelopment. http://kcrag.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=16964&start=20#p571512 I thought of adding that, but it seemed a little too preliminary (even though I know some of the projects I have listed are in fairly preliminary stages too). I didn't even see a number of uni...

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom

I updated the original post here to add The Netherlands/Monarch, 44 Belle, Mac Properties at Armour and Cherry. Changed number of units on Armour and Troost to the latest plan and moved Midtown Plaza and 25th and Troost into a new "Probably Dead" category.

Also working on adding pics.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Will be interesting to see how neighborhood reacts to tearing down homes. Being on SW Tfwy makes these houses functionally obsolete. Some have been converted to offices, the rest seem very run down. I'm a big preservationist, but I wouldn't bat an eye about losing these houses for this project. The...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

A new PIEA Redevelopment Area proposal has shown up in the KCMO Development Tracker map for the 4400 block of Belleview, NW of the Plaza. It looks like they are calling the redevelopment area "Midtown Crossing" (isn't that the name of the Home Depot/Costco development?), but the project mi...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

An office building at NE corner of 47th/Main is going residential, luxury senior living. Would like to see some of the office spaces above Plaza retail also go residential. Assuming the remaining office tenants stay in the city (maybe go to 46 Penn?) this could be a good thing - reducing vacancy an...

According to their website, I only see two of their properties that they developed themselves: This parking garage in Downtown Houston: http://www.stantonroadcapital.com/milam2.jpg And this 170 unit apartment building in Midtown Houston: http://www.stantonroadcapital.com/alta.jpg It looks like most ...

620 E Linwood is now for sale. This building is currently being used for an ice cream truck business. It is basically caddy corner from the Acme building and around the corner from much of "TowerEast". http://clemonsrealestate.com/listings/mixed-use-development-project-union-hill/ http://c...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

out of town obliviousness. Mostly that. I don't want to get too much into the details of this particular situation, but there seems to be an influx of out of town investors buying houses for rental properties in KC (also some doing flips). These seem to often be Bay Area people with more money than...

I think Shake Shack is completely overrated.

However, I'm sure it would do well and would be a fine addition/upgrade.

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Sold for $406k, (over asking price).

Have you been down Warwick lately? A lot of those crappy apartment buildings have been getting rehabbed.

But I agree, that price is a stretch for that location.

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Is this on Warwick? Haven't any idea where the second house is, the big shirtwaist? Yes, it's on Warwick. Pretty close to the Fast Stop, which makes it a little surprising that it sold for as much as it did. Although with Westport Commons and improvements on Warwick, that area is on the upswing. It...

Re: Troost developments

I also noticed that many of the storefronts on the 3100 block of Troost (most of the west side of the block) had been boarded up. Murals are going up on the boarded up buildings. It looks nice, but it is a bit concerning for what it might portend for how long the boards will be up. Also, it seems l...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

Are they offering to reimburse their employees for private schools as well? $5K isn't exactly a large enough incentive to make it worth any family to put their kids though the Hickman Mills School District. Lee's Summit wants to annex 96 acres from KC for the Paragon Star project and they they are ...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

I really like the KC aspect of the show. They are doing a good job with establishing shots of KC, driving thru neighborhoods etc. showing off more of the city than just the typical Plaza and Liberty Memorial shots. I appreciate that they put some effort in the b-roll and establishing place, but I t...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

I have heard talk that Amazon might be considering buying Cerner. Well not exactly a purchase, but it does appear that a partnership between Amazon and Cerner may be happening. I don't know if it would significantly help our chances for HQ2, but it sure doesnt hurt: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/22/...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Can't remember if anything is planned for 27th or if that was just remediation / removal of a dangerous building. IIRC, at the same time the LCRA awarded the northeast corner of 27th and Troost to UC-B/Milhaus, Botwin was selected to develop the SE and SW corners. As far as I know, no details or re...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

I’m pretty bummed they’re planning on demolishing the market building. Yeah, me too. Maybe a solution can be reached where that building is saved, which would reduce the number of units to alleviate the "parking problem". I feel like the neighbors on the 3500 block of Harrison might be th...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Peter Cassel of MAC Properties spoke at the HPNA meeting this evening about the developments on Troost and Cherry. At the beginning, he framed all of this as one project. He didn't go into the specifics, but I'm guessing Cherry might be part of the same financing on Troost and might help add a littl...
