Right now I'd say that the design preferences of Central Hyde Parkers will be a bigger obstacle to getting something ambitious than the budget or the imagination of the architects. Yeah. I think there will be a contingent pushing for "old-timey" architecture. That usually doesn't turn out...

The building on the left is the offices of SchoolSmart KC. I'm not sure if the tenant specifically wanted it without windows, or if Butch Rigby just decided there was less of a need for windows with that use vs the restaurant and retail spaces.
Across from Acadmie Lafayette. I did post about it a while back in this thread (looks like the image links have died): http://kcrag.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=18275&p=569548&hilit=34th#p569548 Work has been progressing slowly, but steadily on the building. They are saying Fall of 2018 open...
I assume you are referring to Bakery Lofts for Blip? My post was unclear, but I was actually referring to BikeWalkKC's current office space as what I thought would make a nice neighborhood bar spot. I think there is potential for a nice little node in some of the underutilized commercial spaces rang...
Good for Troost. It seems like they hadn't been in their current space that long. I guess it wasn't too long of a lease. I haven't been in the space, so I'm not sure how well suited it would be for other uses (or if there would be possible permit issues), but I always thought that would be a great s...

Some good news and some bad news on the World Cup front: The bad news is that the bid from Morocco seems to be gaining momentum. The North American bid was once the prohibitive favorite, but it seems like a close race at this point. The good news is that the list of potential host cities in the Nort...
Tallgrass Technologies, currently based in Lenexa, is asking for an abatement for an office at 215 E 18th St - employing 53 people (I'm unsure if this company would be relocating from Lenexa, or opening a second office). Here is the info: http://edckc.s3.amazonaws.com/EEZ%2013Mar2018/Tallgrass%20Tec...

There is a proposal for a self storage facility that recently showed up on the city's Development Tracker Map at the corner of Truman Rd and Troost. That seems like a much better location for a Downtown area storage facility.
The framing on Scholars Row has started going vertical. Stairwells (and elevator shafts?) are completed. https://preview.ibb.co/gcFTnn/20180307_091231.jpg Progress on the Happy Apple Cafe spot just to the south. I believe all of the retail spots on this side of the block are owned by UC-B and are ex...
Signage for a new African restaurant up next to Urban Cafe Wonder which African cuisine? Here is their website, which includes a menu: https://www.fanniescuisine.com/ In other news, the Abnos owned Apollo Theater at 3229 Troost is currently up for sale for $415,000. Current facade: http://images3.l...

This is going to the Planning Zoning and Economic Development Committee this Wednesday: Approving a development plan in Districts UR and DC-15 on approximately a 0.63 acre tract of land generally located at the northwest corner of E. 3rd Street and Grand Boulevard, to allow for a six (6) story mixed...
Hyde Park has started a committee to voice concerns about the MAC development at Armour. Led by Central Hyde Parkers and Janssen Place residents. Focused on restricting the height of the development and maximizing the parking. I'm not surprised to hear that, but where have you seen this? Do they ha...

If they are doing some demo/construction, I wouldn't mind seeing the portion of the garage that fronts 47th St being removed and replaced with retail or mixed-use. The Bank of America drive through also seems like a good candidate to be removed.

This article in the Star says Two Light is already fully leased. I find that a little hard to believe. Any input, Stranger Things?
