Old sign from Google Streetview on March of this year: http://i63.tinypic.com/2b6x36.jpg New Sign: http://i66.tinypic.com/293vorn.jpg I pass by this building on a regular basis and I'm pretty sure this sign has been put up within the past week. It could be that they are starting with the renovation/...

Re: Mirabelle I & II (45th, Broadway, Wornall block)

I tweeted your pic. Hope you don't mind! Yeah, no problem! :D How many parcels will be left in or near the plaza once all of the proposed buildings are built? Well two of the big, prominent development sites are the former Colonial Courts site and the former Nelle Peters Apartments site. I believe ...

Photo update on The Tudors Townhomes - one of the buildings is rising up. I think there will be 3 more like this. They are rather large structures for townhomes: https://image.ibb.co/bZetv6/20171114_132335.jpg https://image.ibb.co/jGqNoR/20171114_132408.jpg https://image.ibb.co/mJWTTR/20171114_13251...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

Sign not new. I know there were signs up in the past, but I believe the one up right now on the west side is a new one. Edit: Yep, just looked at the old sign on Google streetview from March 2017 and the one I saw today was different (and I think a very recent addition). I remember the new one had ...

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

It looks like there is a new sign up from the leasing company on the 31 Levy/Velvet Freeze building. I'm not sure if they are waiting to sign retail tenants before ground breaking, but it does look like this project is still in the works and not dead as has been suggested.

Construction fencing is going up and the Bank of America has been vacated. Looks like demo/ground breaking may be imminent.

Re: Troost developments

Ruby Jean's Juicery on Troost opened this Saturday. I went and checked it out today. This is going to be a great addition to Troost. Urban Cafe was a great addition earlier this year and Ruby Jean's may be an ever bigger deal, especially in it's ability to bring people to Troost who might otherwise ...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I have seen the impact for Brazil estimates anywhere from $3B-$30B. Brazil did build many new stadiums and probably other infrastructure. I think that higher number includes a lot of the construction work. However, in 2026, the field will be expanded with more teams and more games, the impact could ...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Orlando does not draw even close to double what KC does. Atlanta and Seattle have much larger stadiums. KC sells out the stadium every week and averages over capacity. If we don't get the World Cup, it will have nothing to do with MLS attendance. In fact, our level of MLS support is probably one of ...

Re: 3260 Main

The apartments are aimed towards the 35+ age range, not "millennial apartments" as they said. The finishes in the apartments will be nicer than most new construction and floor plans will be larger than normal. I believe they said a single bedroom will be around $1400 and a 2 bedroom will ...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

I'm curious where these demands from "Hyde Park" are coming from. As far as I know, it hasn't been discussed at any neighborhood meetings. I haven't heard people talking about it or seen any discussion on any of the neighborhood Facebook pages (although I usually stay away from those). I g...

Re: Troost developments

The old Katz Store at Linwood is being demolished this week. I went by there last Friday and it was already mostly down. I also noticed that many of the storefronts on the 3100 block of Troost (most of the west side of the block) had been boarded up. I have no idea if there is any significance to t...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

MAC Properties is proposing a new apartment building at 520 E Armour (the parking lot across the street from the Newbern). I don't know any of the details. I am sure there is going to be some neighborhood opposition to this (concerns over parking, density, traffic, too "modern" etc). It wi...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

I have heard talk that Amazon might be considering buying Cerner, although I don't know if this has any basis in reality. There have been more credible reports that Amazon is considering getting into the EHR game, so this may not be too far fetched. This might boost KC's chances for HQ2, but I hope ...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Ugh. That reminds me of the perfectly nice apartment building (probably pre-1900 and not a common architectural design in KC) on 17th Street that was torn down for parking/staging for the construction of the Kauffman Center.

It is still a gravel lot to this day (that no one even parks in anymore).
