Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium

*Not my photo. Some of the open space and unfinished look might be for potential stadium expansion. It was built with expansion up to 20k mind (although we were told CMP was designed for the possibility of expansion, but it seems like that is not very easy to achieve). Have there been any reports of...

Re: New Riverfront Women's Soccer Stadium

Yeah, a lot of undue negativity here in my opinion. $120M isn't that much for a stadium these days. Children's Mercy Park would probably be well over $300M if built today and people's expectations might be skewed by it. While CMP is on the small side and it lacks some more modern designs you see in ...

Re: Sporting Kansas City

I really have no idea about his personal opinions/views and don't give a shit. But I did find his delivery as emcee to be over-the-top and obnoxious with all of the screaming. Sporting has also upgraded the video boards and lighting in the stadium. I'm hoping this, along with Hartzel going away mean...

Re: Troost developments

Still nothing happening with apartments at 27th, nothing at Linwood, and the "Troost Village" blight on the east of the 3100 block. The apartments at 27th are dead (at least Exact isn't building them). They posted the lots for sale (and I think they have sold). It seems like there hasn't ...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

A bummer? What were you expecting? This is an exceptional draw for us imo. Quarterfinal will be a massive moment. Yep, I think this is as good as we could have hoped for. After the group stages were expanded, it seemed like we were looking at 6 matches - but having two knockout round matches, inclu...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I don't believe Germany has made an official decision or announcement. Here is the article: https://www.cjonline.com/story/news/politics/government/2024/01/24/officials-foresee-economic-impact-kansas-2026-world-cup/72314176007/ That article is a bit unclear. It almost makes it sound as though German...

Re: Westport

What happened with that development that was supposed to wrap around where Charbar is at? The property has been sold to a developer from Wichita. AFAIK, there is no word on whether they plan to pursue the previous plan, or any development for the site. It seems like the previous owners weren't actu...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Tickets went for the Miami match went on sale today. Looks like nearly all of the tickets besides the club seats are sold out. There are a handful of upper deck tickets for $150. I guess the "starting at $65" were the very top of the nose bleed, and those are all gone. Club level seas are ...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I don't think we will ever know how much extra the team will make by moving the game to Arrowhead, but here is my speculation. Arrowhead is about 76k while CMP is about 21k with SRO. But the difference in extra tickets sold will be an even greater. I would guess there are about 14k season tickets ho...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I get why season ticket holders would be upset. It sounds like for some, the tickets and experience might be slightly downgraded. But I think the biggest reason some are upset is that they wanted to sell their tickets for big bucks. Yes, this may be a cash grab, but I'd rather the team make money th...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Chicago suffers from the curse of the original MLS teams (they actually joined in the second year, but close enough). Sporting KC has probably been the most successful at breaking that curse through the rebranding and stadium construction. All of the other original teams carry some of that original ...

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit

*- The Gillham stop should be removed and the Linwood and Main stop be shifted eastward a little bit so you don't create another stop on Main 2 blocks from 31st. The other stops I mentioned are already close to KUMed and Clark, Troost, and Prospect. The building stock around the Gillham stop makes ...

Re: Armory Block Redevelopment at 3620 Main

I was wondering if Exact had bitten off more than they could chew. They have quite a few proposals, many of which seem stalled or moving very slowly.

They are also selling their lots/project at 27th and Troost.

Re: Sporting Kansas City

I'll agree current location could be better but the stadium itself is nice. If memory serves me correctly it was one of the first soccer specific/soccer only stadiums build in the MLS. In fact I seem to recall it being a "crown jewel" of soccer stadium design for the MLS which was copied ...

Re: Sporting Kansas City

Children's Mercy Park cost twice as much to construct as San Jose's and it has always seemed like a nicer stadium to me. For the first six years or so of its existence, CMP was probably in the top two stadiums in the league (only behind RBNY). But with all of the new stadiums built in the last few y...

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point

The cars are smaller in person than I expected. If it's really only 150', it will be small. That's not much bigger than the tiny one at worlds of fun. The one at World's of Fun is 60'. I agree that bigger would have been better, but comparing it to the Skyliner at WOF is very much hyperbole.

Re: Martini Corner near 31st/Gilham

I get what you are saying, but I don't think it's economically feasible for a teardown. They are asking $6M for it, which is definitely worth more than the lot. It is a large, seemingly solid building that has value to someone. There was this quote from Exact in a BizJournal article a while ago: If ...

The building at 3122-40 Gillham Plaza is to be turned into a self storage place. What a loser of a project. https://compasskc.kcmo.org/EnerGov_Prod/SelfService#/plan/1a8e724d-1211-4575-a8cd-2b3dcca46ae9 This is on the CPC docket for next Tuesday. Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Milhaus is pretty active. They do have some projects still going on, but it seems like a number of their plans have either stalled or died. 31st and Troost seems like it has had zero movement. Linwood and Troost may be coming back (partnered with UC-B) but it has been stalled for quite some time. T...
