Re: OFFICIAL - East Village

There is an item on the PIEA agenda for this Thursday related to East Village. It is an amendment to the original plan area. It appears to add some parcels to the plan (although I'm not sure what was in the original plan area and what exactly the changes are). But here is an interesting tidbit: the ...

Re: Troost developments

I assume you are talking about the Tim Bowman led project on the 3100 block of Troost. It seems like the plan for phase 1 is pretty close to finalized. I think they are still working on getting all of the incentives/tax credits together. I know they received approval from PIEA, but I'm not sure what...

http://i63.tinypic.com/fwj0nd.jpg Increased the saturation and got this. I think that we are looking at a greyish colored skin. https://i.imgur.com/iVewUEj.jpg Here is what I get with increased saturation. It does get some of that turquoise tone back. But who knows. http://i66.tinypic.com/fzc21y.jpg

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

The article in the Star specifically says they are looking at existing office space. Although that could be temporary while they eventually build.

Where did you hear they are going to build two facilities?

Re: Companies moving downtown

I thought the number seemed a little low, but I got it directly from Copaken Brooks' website: This iconic building would consist of a 10-story, 320,000 square feet – including 270,000 square feet of office/hotel and 50,000 square feet of retail. It would also include 1,300 below-grade parking spaces...

Re: Companies moving downtown

Wadell Reed currently leases about 300K sqft space with 1000 employees Actually, it looks like their total amount of space is coniserably higher than that. They lease 300k office plus 38k for disaster recovery (?) plus they own an additional 150k of office space. That would put their total close to...

Re: Property Tax Assessments 2019

Wonder if the people who bought very cheap or a home in really bad condition got hit the hardest then they are shocked to see the rates go up. Mine went up 350%. I have heard similar stories from others in Hyde Park. Honestly, it was undervalued for years. The assessment had only increased slightly...

Re: Three Light

Are those all full-size balconies on the south side of the building? They do appear to get larger at higher floors, but I"m not sure how much of that might be based on perspective. Size of the balconies would be relevant to the 670 cap. I assumed the cap in the renderings was an artistic choice/wish...

The redevelopment plan for three buildings the east side of the 3100 block of Troost is on the PIEA agenda for today. The "jagged" panels definitely appear to be gone. I'm curious about the color. Looks gray in the first image (but everything appears de-saturated) and more of a dark turquoise in the second. http://i63.tinypic.com/fwj0nd.jpg http://i63.tinypic.com/1z36vdj.jpg Older rendering for comparison: https://...

For comparison, the Cincinnati Streetcar did 36,333 in April. YTD, Cinci's total is 118,884 (991 per day) vs 622,310 for KC. Milwaukee had a glitch that caused them to lose ridership data for February and half of March. In January, they had 49,501 - 1,597 per day OKC had 102,500 through March - 1,13...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Kansas City is one of three finalists to land the relocation of two USDA research agencies (the other two are Indiana and The Research Triangle). "The congressional delegations from Kansas and Missouri went in on it together." So I'm guessing the two agencies might be split on state lines. 253 Econo...

Re: Troost developments

Also, there is kind of an odd little project at 3801 Troost seeking variances to the Troost overlay. It is the conversion of a car wash into offices (appears it will be a chiropractor). The building has already had all the bays sealed up. Definitely an improvement over the trash-filled car wash, but...

It looks like UCB has a tenant lined up for the Firehouse on Troost. I haven't heard who it is, but the change of zoning request has the potential to be a restaurant. An application has been submitted for a special use permit for a tavern or nightclub. I thought I saw something somewhere that made ...

Re: KCAI Liberal Arts Center

The building looks fine. I'm still sad about the home that was torn down on that lot. I remember a Fank Lloyd Wright quote being on the house: "Buildings, too, are children of Earth and Sun". I seem to recall that being carved in the stonework on the house, but maybe I'm not remembering correctly an...
