I'm guessing people will freak out about the walkway.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

“What caught me eye in Kansas City is the same thing we see in Denver, just seven years behind,” Slawson said. *20 years behind Maybe 20 years behind in certain metrics, but I think 20 years is generous when comparing our transportation system. I personally do not see KC having, in 20 years, integr...

Anyone been to the Jacobson lately? I haven't been for some time, but their bone marrow burger was very good.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

While I like Q39 much more than Joe's KC (only kansans would put cheese on BBQ). It would be a plus for downtown to have such a famously hyped (but barely above average) BBQ joint. But Food TV and other media will still focus on the hick gas station location for the kitsch. That is crazy talk. I'm ...

Re: HopCat at Westport/Broadway

Checked out Tiki Cat last night and it was great. You'd swear you were in somebody's basement. Great drinks, great service, cool tunes and a million things to check out. I think they deliberately don't let the place get too packed. We had reservations, and when I confirmed them, I noticed that ther...

All it takes is like 3 flights leaving around the same time, and you get multiple hundreds of people arriving at the same Southwest gate in a one hour span.

Agreed. Antler Room and Corvino are great additions to the dining scene. I'd put them up there with Novel/Bluestem/Rieger/Port Fonda as our favorite places to go for a nice meal nowadays.

**Edit** - I should also add Krokstrom to my list of favorite places.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

Joe's KC would be making a business blunder then in my opinion, but I don't own a restaurant, so... They have had years to put something downtown, and Q39 could continue to take a lot of thunder away from Joe's as the new default recommendation for out-of-towners. Even with the proximity to 39th Str...

I can second this. The vibe is really nice with the live music. I had a really nice meal and experience, but we racked up a bill with the multiple plates and multiple glasses of wine.

Ha. I hope nothing is jinxed. I've been guessing every new restaurant for 10 years will be a Joe's KC/Okie Joe's money printing business.

Not a totally popular opinion, but I've thought Westport Flea Market's burgers were overhyped for years. They are good, but not close to great. Green Room is so much better and just down the street.

Re: Poll/Guide: Get on the Bus with Your Phone - Try It Free

Added a poll, scroll to top of thread. What will it take to get more people to try the bus? IMO, expanding the streetcar line and selling the connections to the streetcar line. People who need to use the bus already use it, and our city is oriented in such a way that long distance bus travel rarely...

Dang. There is a really nice store in downtown Portland. I was hoping this would be like that. The store at the Legends blows.

It would be pretty great for downtown KC to become known for its great coffee after we lost the aroma of coffee from the Folger's plant departure.

Re: Does the Plaza need a drastic change or on the right path?

My "other" is similar to other recommendations; to keep it as a restaurant and retail center, but to eliminate the streets in a large portion of the Plaza in favor of bricked-in actual plaza. I think the big name national brand retail stores like Nike and Apple are exactly what the plaza n...

Re: Westport

It may have been brought up recently, but looking at the thread title, is now a good time to ask what the impact of the P&L on Westport has been? It seems like a distant memory now, but I recall many businesses claiming that the P&L was the end of the world for Westport, including a few clos...
