Re: Misc Crossroads News

Couple new liquor licenses KobiQ in old czar bar space (pic posted somewhere else on here) and Ron Rico opening next to border brewery in east crossroads. Can't find any real info on either of them. I mentioned this elsewhere, but I think the new restaurant in the Czar Bar space will be operated by...

Re: Otto's Burger & Malt and Czar Bar

I actually ran into someone who knows the folks doing this project (wish I had asked a lot more questions). It was a quick conversation, but they described it as Korean BBQ to me, and there is a space in the back they were playing around with making into a cocktail area. I'm not sure if it is going ...

Re: KC Bike share

I'd just like to say, that while the expensive barrier to entry of having a station in your neighborhood is unfortunate, I was just in Dallas, and their non-station bike system is all f-ed up. They have bikes that are self locking and can be left/picked up anywhere. People have taken to just droppin...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Looks like precheck in the Southwest area is getting a taste of what a new airport will be like. They moved all TSA precheck traffic for Southwest through the "secret" gate and removed normal entry from that gate. It will make both more efficient at checking people in, but precheck folks ...

Re: Politics

I'm afraid things that people expect to backfire still won't until people are genuinely hurt by the decisions. Often, that can take a number of years to realize. Right now, the Republicans can do whatever they want because they have constituents more focused on supporting things that aren't liberal/...

Re: Politics

The fact that McCaskill will run unopposed in the primary (or that she is being allowed to run at all) tells you just about everything you need to know about the immediate future of the Democratic Party in Missouri. Do most multi-term incumbent senators get primaried? Even when they do, isn't it no...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

I haven't seen the show yet, but after seeing these pics why couldn't they focus on a house that REALLY needed some work put into it? From the outside, this one doesn't appear all that bad in the grand scheme of things. It was split into a tri-plex and they brought it back to a single family. Only ...

Love what they are doing here, but not gonna lie, the sign looks a bit like that of a weed dispensary.

Re: Downtown Tanners closing?

Hush sounds like a name for a speakeasy in a Stefon sketch on SNL. "KC's hottest club is "Hush," an intimate basement speakeasy that seats 4,000 people amidst the ruins of crying former businesses associates and over 6,000 conceptual drawings for various iterations of the Garment Hous...

That is just insane to me. Keeping people occupied via wifi sounds like the #1 way to improve the customer perception of the long, slow hauls through Iowa with no or intermittent cell coverage.

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

YouTube TV is much better with a few recent improvements. They now have 60 fps for ESPN and a few other sports channels, and they now have an Android app that works well with Shield TV and other products. There is still a ways to go, but I'm closer to shutting down my cable now than I was a few mont...

Re: General Amtrak Discussion

That looks pretty nice. It's been a few years since I've ridden Amtrak, but do they have wifi on all routes yet? It doesn't look like the Southwest Chief does yet, which just boggles my mind.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I recently heard something along the lines of "economic impact on host cities is in the billions". Is this true? Probably for all host cities in aggregate. Certainly not for a single host city. It isn't a local team (unless the USA draws your city), so you could potentially have 40 to 60k...

Long long lines at the main Southwest gate this morning at 5:20 am. I would have missed my flight or just barely made it if I weren't TSA pre-check.

Re: Politics

That's probably why Trump has ginned up this story about Mueller and the Uranium One deal, and that the former head of the FBI was (gasp) friends with the next head of the FBI (Comey). The way Trump operates, you don't even need for those stories to make any sense, so long as they plant a seed of do...

Füd appears to have vanished overnight. This time, it looks like it was for good as they removed the glass exterior windows and have the place boarded up. I never spoke with someone directly about what happened, but I also never heard commentary from someone in the know about the place in support of...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Just wanted to say it is totally so sad what has happened to the East Crossroads since the streetcar was built. Everything you think is happening is a lie. There is only the appearance that momentum in the area has actually increased since the streetcar was completed. In reality, things are dire an...

50th? I never believed Brownback's governing style and tax philosophy would lead to good things, but 50th is literally the worst you can do. Turns out Ayn Rand was an idiot.
