Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I wish them the best and hope they prove my skepticism wrong, but I worry that a concept of everything is often a concept of nothing. It sounds like the type of restaurant I used to think would be cool but now realize is incredibly difficult to pull off. On the educational side of the show "Ki...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article200290699.html The owners of the new Tribe said they want it to be a “communal” concept with customers sitting together, sharing plates of global cuisines with cocktails and beers in pitchers to share, or in individual glass...

Not going to lie, I'm excited to try it, but I've heard it is definitely not worth standing in a line that wraps around the block for.

Re: $30M MoDOT project to bring major improvements to congested Liberty interchange

Hahaha. Classic engineering for engineering's sake maneuver. It's like they came up with a hypothesis of how an interchange could work and got so excited about their idea, they just made it happen regardless of how ridiculous it is or how confusing it will be to drivers not familiar with it.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Main Site Proposal

All I hear from people with Shake Shack in their city is that it is overrated. The only people I've ever heard rave about it are people from other cities.

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

That video kinda jumps to some conclusions and focuses more on describing how difficult some of the engineering will be rather than whether or not solutions can be designed to account for these things. Obviously, the pods won't be without oxygen, and there will be tons of emergency releases that can...

Re: KC Bike share

Some form of dock is needed. I guarantee that a full dockless system would only make everyone kinda hate it. Dallas looks like a bunch of people were raptured from Earth. However, it would be amazing if we could find a middle ground where it didn't cost so much to implement a new rack.

Re: KC to STL Hyperloop

Southwest Airlines: We have just the flight for you! Yeah, flying is fun and convenient& If SWA is your answer then why look at high-speed rail at all? Even if it was physically possible and was not immediately blown up/shot by a terrorist/disgruntled farmer, Hyperloop would be a lot more simil...

Re: Poll: Does the Plaza need a drastic change, some change or on the right path?

If I were running the Plaza, I'd go after Bob Wasabi for a touch higher-end sushi concept and pair it with a sake/white wine bar, though KC may be more of a sushi rolls city and not as interested in good sashimi and nigiri, which is really his selling point. I also think a high-end wine store with i...

Re: Sporting Kansas City

FWIW, there are 4 EPL stadiums, 5 La Liga stadiums, and 4 Serie A stadiums under 23k in capacity (random number chosen by me). 9 of those 13 stadiums are smaller than Sporting's. I doubt Sporting would seriously entertain the notion of a brand new stadium until the one they are in is at least 10 yea...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Couple new liquor licenses KobiQ in old czar bar space (pic posted somewhere else on here) and Ron Rico opening next to border brewery in east crossroads. Can't find any real info on either of them. I mentioned this elsewhere, but I think the new restaurant in the Czar Bar space will be operated by...

Re: Otto's Burger & Malt and Czar Bar

I actually ran into someone who knows the folks doing this project (wish I had asked a lot more questions). It was a quick conversation, but they described it as Korean BBQ to me, and there is a space in the back they were playing around with making into a cocktail area. I'm not sure if it is going ...

Re: KC Bike share

I'd just like to say, that while the expensive barrier to entry of having a station in your neighborhood is unfortunate, I was just in Dallas, and their non-station bike system is all f-ed up. They have bikes that are self locking and can be left/picked up anywhere. People have taken to just droppin...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Looks like precheck in the Southwest area is getting a taste of what a new airport will be like. They moved all TSA precheck traffic for Southwest through the "secret" gate and removed normal entry from that gate. It will make both more efficient at checking people in, but precheck folks ...

Re: Politics

I'm afraid things that people expect to backfire still won't until people are genuinely hurt by the decisions. Often, that can take a number of years to realize. Right now, the Republicans can do whatever they want because they have constituents more focused on supporting things that aren't liberal/...

Re: Politics

The fact that McCaskill will run unopposed in the primary (or that she is being allowed to run at all) tells you just about everything you need to know about the immediate future of the Democratic Party in Missouri. Do most multi-term incumbent senators get primaried? Even when they do, isn't it no...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

I haven't seen the show yet, but after seeing these pics why couldn't they focus on a house that REALLY needed some work put into it? From the outside, this one doesn't appear all that bad in the grand scheme of things. It was split into a tri-plex and they brought it back to a single family. Only ...
