Re: Gun Violence in KCMO

But how do you solve the issue? As I see it the issue is parents and how they raise their kids. Unless we start loosening how serious we take our Constitutional rights how do you force a parent to actually parent their child? My post is toward the press and media's misinformation by calling it &quo...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

It has probably been discussed here, but I'd also like to see the cars staggered a bit better. We rode the car on Saturday, and it was absolutely packed. I downloaded the app so I can see where there cars are, and there were three cars running around 1:30 PM, all bunched up at Union Station. The tic...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

For those who think KCI is super convenient, I just saw Delta move a gate for a flight to LA from one gate to another gate in a different security section. Literally telling people on the intercom they have to leave security and reenter elsewhere. Just the convenience you want at 5:00 AM!

Re: Smart City Project

I agree, though I'm not sure what you took to be hardware-centric from my comments. Sensors are nothing without software to make sense of the data, and right now, I've not seen the realization (through reality or presentation) of any analytics software that can make effective use of the data that wi...

Re: Smart City Project

I hope it is used to attract more future partners, and I'm always glad for the city to get recognition. However, right now, most of the "smart city" and "connected city" stuff is just smoke and mirrors. The real connected and innovative cities of tomorrow may spend less time crea...

Re: Grinders

That is an odd question. I've been going there regularly since they opened and it gets bigger each year. Now, I'm kind of old compared to some of you whipper snappers, but I think this year's line up looks like one of their best. I like Elvis, Buddy Guy, Primus, and John Butler; but, I don't even k...

Has anyone heard anything about the CrossroadsKC venue possibly shutting down due to low attendance and/or lack of good shows?

Re: Westside happenings

I could see them charging this much for a covered parking space, but it remains to be seen how residential street parking will impact this part of the area which is, as of today, not congested at all. Places out in the burbs frequently have some sort of overhang parking available, but these are just...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

It would serve the current one right. I love it, but they have completely missed a huge opportunity in making almost no substantial improvements and not having a year-round indoor market.

Re: What Will Save the Suburbs?

It remains to be seen if the faux-urban environments that have been created in the suburbs over the last decade or so will have any lasting power.

Westside Local is open at 11 AM. Also in that area are Bluebird Bistro, Los Alamos, and Chez Elle, which are all open on Sunday.

Coming to "Brookside East"..ha. Really dislike the name, but I'm happy it's on the way. http://www.bksartisanales.com/ Yes, but...it's better than "E-Bro", which I have now heard in use not as a joke. I can only think of techie bros when I hear that... http://i2.cdn.turner.com/m...

Re: Xroads James Beard District

Nicely stated, Chriz. Everyone has their different weighting in what is important to them in a dining experience. To me, I rank cleanliness and food/drink way way way above service and aesthetic, and I've always had great service at Port Fonda. 90% of Yelp reviews I read are based 90% on service, an...

Re: Xroads James Beard District

It's fine not to like something and to say why. But to say "Everything sucks" at a place you obviously don't go to is just a shitty thing to do. Again, I'm not saying you have to like anything about it, but basically you're saying that anyone who has ever liked any food there is wrong and...

I disagree. I'd be interested in hearing what exactly was straight up not good food-wise.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Right now there isn't a big push for a big infrastructure improvements package. For many against it there is the concern of its cost and increasing the deficit. And not saying the Dems are gradually becoming the new Party of No but many on the left do not want to work at all with Trump at all, no m...

We were also at Hotel Phillips on Saturday night, although not for the new restaurant. In addition to Tavernonna, there is a new "speakeasy" space in the former basement called PS 1931. They did a great job decorating the spot, although it was very warm down there on Saturday night. It is...

1720 Jefferson Street is currently listed for $1.1 million, just a few houses away. It is 6 bed, 3 full bath, 1 half, but they left the square feet blank on this one. I've been to an estate sale at the JC Peppard House, and it is definitely quite big. There is an unfinished basement, which I'm sure ...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

LAX has been a nightmare for arrivals for at least the last five years. It is now largely NO STOPPING curbside (in addition to No Parking and No Standing) on the lower level roadway. The upper departures level is a little better, but the whole experience is orders-of-magnitude worse than MCI or eve...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Ever flown into LAX? I've actually never had an issue getting picked up or dropped off at LAX almost immediately, but that's just my personal experience. My friend lived near the airport, so traffic elsewhere in the city was never an issue. I'd text him when I landed, and he was outside ready to gr...
