Re: We need a new airport!!!

What would be the best European city for a nonstop? I'd prefer Frankfurt given the multitude of connections and the relatively user-friendly nature of the airport (albeit - you will walk). I think I've never deplaned on a A380 or 747 onto the tarmac to await busses but I have at Frankfurt. London w...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Several other smaller cities have direct flights to London and Paris. How about something different that would be a draw? How about Amsterdam. It’s a major connection hub and is close to many other destinations. Would be cool, but I think at this point it’s just getting someone to KC in the first p...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

KCI should invite Wow Air for design input of new terminal. If they are involved and engaged even in a small way, they may be more enticed to make a move. They are still considering KCI for expansion in 2019. Maybe more important for Condor or BA to be involved. They are also interested and those t...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Should we remove the city/county wide rail project option from the poll? Of course that is the preferred option for everyone, but assuming that we have to extend it with a TDD... Yea. Probably not achievable by a TDD. I was originally thinking that by the early 2020's there may Be enough city/count...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

if you're curious about election results from 2014, here you go: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bx1_a32nv3z2UHEzWDVxdUVOd3c Once the UMKC Plan is funded and ready to go, what would be the next steps for us to getting another extension going? Should we wait for the UMKC expansion to be complete i...

Re: The Future of Crown Center

4 new office towers with a combined 2 million sqft of office space, additional retail, and residential buildings are all planned for Crown Center per a Crown Center release. Not sure what exactly the timeline would be on this considering their release from July is the first and only time I have hea...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

(1) NKC or (2) Independence Ave These two make most sense for next streetcar expansion with commuter rail to burbs. Most Brooksiders don't want it, though Waldo probably does. And it would be great to see ATA pursue free bus mostly metro or city wide. Dave mentioned that as a possibility, maybe hol...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Any idea how the study got the cc line estimate so wrong? Seems like a big thing to not take into account The Next Rail study used the Main Street Streetcar Price Per Mile cost for all the routes they looked at. By using the CCROW, a pre graded former rail line, the cost is cut down from the ~$30/m...

If they aren't onboard, I'd go to NKC.

Linwood area had strong community support I believe. NKC was studied but there just isn't enough money yet to support anything.

Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

With the Union Station to UMKC Extension through 2 of 4 hoops and the North Shore Extension also in the works, I thought I'd put together a poll on what people think will be next. The Mayor has mentioned an East/West Route as his preferred phase three. The Next Rail study puts a Linwood Route high o...

Re: KC area Transit master plan LIGHT RAIL OR BUST!

We have light rail. It's running downtown right now. This is an important distinction when we look at what we can do. I like to use Houston because it has similarities and differences to KC The red line has longer trains, have dedicated lanes and mostly wider stop spacing. But the red line downtown...

Re: KC area Transit master plan LIGHT RAIL OR BUST!

With the areas population expected to grow by some 600K in the next 20 years, increased public support for rail projects, and recent strong support for the airport, is now the time to revisit a legitimate light rail plan. Not a Chadtain Proposal. But an actual starter line. Peer cities like Nashvill...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Design workshops announced https://twitter.com/KCIEdgemoor/status/931258143421628419 Zero in Kansas is not a good sign. I hope they plan on including more of the region in this. No. Why would they. It’s a Kansas City asset so citizens of KCMO are given priority thus they are only planning meetings ...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

DId the bridge get it but now the streetcar won't qualify? the city could not be the applicant for an STP grant for any project -- including streetcar -- between 2021-2024 (2021 is the earliest option). technically, another entity could apply for streetcar but the same people will be making the fun...
