Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Selling assets to maintain other assets is probably a bad idea. While I do believe there are too many parks, I think it is very likely that we will regret the sales later.

Northeast Industrial District Housing

Does anyone know much about the houses stuck between factories in the North East Industrial District?

Current building was built to house all streetcars needed for the plaza extension.

Will there be a few switches along the route?

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Part of me supports regional control. Part of me doesn't want sprawl loving suburbanites to have even more say over a vital city asset.

Summer Funding Election: TDD was formed. Board Members elected. Now they must approve a tax on the TDD Federal Funding Approval: The project, as I know it, requires significant federal funding to begin. Unless a PPP was used that got around this. Design: Determine Station Locations, Which lanes to r...

Yes, and I’ve heard they are having difficulty recruiting students due to not being in a major city.

Even the rural and small-town Ivy League schools are having this problem

M S&T can't reach its full potential in its current location. IMHO it needs to be either moved to KC/STL.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

Internships are a very important part of the recruitment process. Philadelphia's proposal included a site literally across the street from 2 Universities both with around 20K students(Drexel and Penn). There is no way you can compare a number of meh state universities within a day's drive to 2 mediu...

Someone from "Urban STL" claimed that this project at one time was planned to be the new tallest building in Missouri.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

I hear everyone talk about universities and don’t understand that knock on us as a candidate. We are the largest metro area to: KState, KU, Nebraska, MU, MSU, ISU, etc. not count MS&T and other smaller universities. KU and UMKC are the only schools close enough to partner with KC firms for scho...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

One was the riverfront park, rest were suburban types including Olathe. We didn't try sell them the best we have to offer (Northloop, I 70, CX East etc). IMHO it was a total waste of everyone's time, effort, and money to put together a bid that included these sucky sites.

We already know a big reason why we lost: we pitched suburban sites in places like Olathe.

Re: Three Light

I don't see 300 million mentioned in the article. Where are you guys getting that from? If Three Light is a 300 million dollar project on that site then it would have to be a 35 story plus mixed used tower and probably have some retail too. Nothing else makes sense. That would be amazing if a 300 m...

My expectations for any project around $300 million are based on the Aqua Tower in Chicago.

Re: Three Light

The $300 million price tag on this development is what I found most interesting. For comparison, One Light supposedly cost 79 million and Two Light was initially priced at 105 million. KCDowntown Did it suddenly add a hotel or office component? If 2 light was 24 stories, Id expect $300M to be at le...

Re: Three Light

The most interesting quote from the article is non-three light related. Matt Zammar of Re/MAX Legacy, one of the area's leading condo agents, recently advised Winters that a developer plans at least one new condo tower in the Crown Center area. The Crown Center expansion plans I found must be accur...

Re: Three Light

3 Light may include condos and the project is valued at $300 million. Seems like a very high number unless there is something I'm missing. The article is locked but if you press "reader view" on Safari fast enough you can view it. That trick works on basically every locked article from eve...

Re: Three Light

^ I don't disagree with you. I think One Light will continue to service those who don't want to spend the money on a place at Two Light, or those who really want to be that close to the store, gym etc. One block doesn't sound like much, but when you become so used to that convenience, going outside...
