Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I think the best chance they have to keep the Arabia museum in Kansas City is to talk one of the local casinos into making it an on-site attraction; or in Missouri, is to find some private developer in Branson who would include it in some attraction. Isle of Capri: Casino, Hotel, and Steam Boat Leg...

Bernskoetter told the News Tribune: "The Steamboat Legacy Fund is going to be a tough one anyway, because the gambling people are against it. He told the News Tribune last week: "We knew the odds were long to get approval of something this different, especially facing the formidable opposition of t...

New KCMO Master Plan - 2019

22 years ago, Kansas City began the “Forging Our Comprehensive Urban Strategy (FOCUS)” Plan. This year (2019) the city will embark on a long over due, replacement master plan. Before the new plan starts rolling, I highly recommend Raggers check out the current FOCUS Plan. Revisiting the FOCUS plan h...

Again, apologies for the poor quality. The tower crane base looks to be ready to receive the crane next week.

Please pardon the low photo quality. I can’t seem to get the photos to upload without extreme compression.

Re: Affordable Housing

We will never be able to subsidize enough housing for these people. However, we can invest in education and public transit needed to get these people better jobs with low barriers of entry. Think of how much good we could do with MoDots road expansion budget alone.

Re: Saxon at the Midland (formerly Midland Office Building)

I don't see any mention of income requirements on these. What guarantee is there that these will go to the folks that the affordable housing uproar represents? Why would they not be snatched up by businesses that routinely house employees or by folks that want a second home in town? (Though, maybe ...

Didnt Reed lie about having a degree? I'd hide from his endorsement.
He walked at the graduation. Reed legitimately thought that he had earned the degree(and IIRC he pretty much had minus 1 class)

Reed has endorsed Justus for Mayor. She doesn’t pretend to have all the answers; rather she listens thoughtfully, collaborates with all stakeholders, completes the task for which she signs up, and truly seeks to unity our communities. She’s a consensus builder. https://twitter.com/jermainereed/statu...

What a deal for the buyer! Get $42m over 15 years on a $30m purchase plus you get the building at the end. You have to think the Star owner is just trying to avoid bankruptcy at this point.
I have a sinking feeling that the current tenant won’t be able to meet that obligation.

Fecal Matters aside... Looking at the top of the kitchen cabinets relative to top of wall on the right yet bathroom wall goes all the way up, it looks like very high ceilings. Seems to be twice as high as top of kitchen cabinets. The shower head is also only half way up wall. Even more disappointin...

Walked all around and up through the ballroom greenspace a few days ago, few things. * The south facade where the ballroom is located is shaping up to be a better streetlevel experience than I feared. * The ped bridge appears to be very low. BTW can we get a sidewalk open soon? * the drive and futu...

I would vote this through. They're going to have to come back with something though because it's election season.

Start thinking of what they can offer to seem like a compromise because everyone will be against it as is.
Good thing the TIF Commission put off a vote till after the election. ;-)

Re: Hotel Bravo- 17th and Wyandotte

The KC Star published a great op-ed by the developer. He laid out the facts: big increases to taxing jurisdictions, high paying jobs, ability to attract conventions/events, no city risk. It is kind of sad that the KC Star’s own journalists were not capable of producing as high quality of work. In ot...

The Four Season STL is a good comparison project. Similar sizes, offerings, and price points albeit in a softer market.
