Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

I hear everyone talk about universities and don’t understand that knock on us as a candidate. We are the largest metro area to: KState, KU, Nebraska, MU, MSU, ISU, etc. not count MS&T and other smaller universities. KU and UMKC are the only schools close enough to partner with KC firms for scho...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

One was the riverfront park, rest were suburban types including Olathe. We didn't try sell them the best we have to offer (Northloop, I 70, CX East etc). IMHO it was a total waste of everyone's time, effort, and money to put together a bid that included these sucky sites.

We already know a big reason why we lost: we pitched suburban sites in places like Olathe.

Re: Three Light

I don't see 300 million mentioned in the article. Where are you guys getting that from? If Three Light is a 300 million dollar project on that site then it would have to be a 35 story plus mixed used tower and probably have some retail too. Nothing else makes sense. That would be amazing if a 300 m...

My expectations for any project around $300 million are based on the Aqua Tower in Chicago.

Re: Three Light

The $300 million price tag on this development is what I found most interesting. For comparison, One Light supposedly cost 79 million and Two Light was initially priced at 105 million. KCDowntown Did it suddenly add a hotel or office component? If 2 light was 24 stories, Id expect $300M to be at le...

Re: Three Light

The most interesting quote from the article is non-three light related. Matt Zammar of Re/MAX Legacy, one of the area's leading condo agents, recently advised Winters that a developer plans at least one new condo tower in the Crown Center area. The Crown Center expansion plans I found must be accur...

Re: Three Light

3 Light may include condos and the project is valued at $300 million. Seems like a very high number unless there is something I'm missing. The article is locked but if you press "reader view" on Safari fast enough you can view it. That trick works on basically every locked article from eve...

Re: Three Light

^ I don't disagree with you. I think One Light will continue to service those who don't want to spend the money on a place at Two Light, or those who really want to be that close to the store, gym etc. One block doesn't sound like much, but when you become so used to that convenience, going outside...

Re: Three Light

Kind of the point I'm trying to make though, ST. Is it better to spend the $15M up front and not have to upgrade in 5 years with the hassle of doing it with tenants in the building? And all the more so for the exterior. Why not spend some extra money on an exterior look that will be a classic and t...

Re: Downtown office vacancy

not sure if this was posted but in this latest posting on the cityscenekc site it's mentioned that there are discussions to build a new office building downtown. In a related matter, Schulte told the Downtowners that H&R Block is teaming up with Copaken Brooks and Cordish to pursue a potential ...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown

Copaken has previously put up the idea of building student housing and an office tower next to the new campus. So a student housing mixed use addition is definently possible.

Re: Downtown office vacancy

So it's official that DST is sold. They own a lot of buildings on W Side of Loop. They are expected to consolidate data centers and corporate functions in near term so likely a hit on jobs and possibly a building or two sold if not more eventually. That would put more space on market so of course d...

Re: Three Light

If only this was Chicago...if only. That's a silly exaggeration. A city doesn't have to be "Chicago" size, stature or economy to build a 30-40 floor apartment building. The "blockyness" and color of Two Light from the distant south makes the building look very bland and featurel...

there is such a thing as vertically mixed use...

Such a progressive project did not even come to my mind. Would be exciting to see a vertical mixed-use tower there.
