Re: Making public transit free

A 1cent sales tax that generates $300M a year should be able to pay for bus and rail transit. Right? Unless there is overwhelming regional interest in rail, I wouldn't bother. We just won't be able to solve the job access problem -- one of the Chamber's few specific statements on the topic -- if we...

The mobile crane has reached its full length. I would be surprised if they will start building the blue crane today.

Re: Making public transit free

Is there anything on the table to trigger a study and propose a regional tax? And if it doesn't pass regionally is it realistic to pursue TDD by city core - the E Side and Downtown to Waldo/WP Center corridor? And pursue other areas that supported the failed regional attempt - KCK, Northland and In...

Re: Kc skyscraper drought about to max depression era droughttt.

Let's hope every interview Cerner does with anybody living or wanting to live downtown, the topic of their office location is brought up as a huge negative. Was the #1 point of my exit interview in 2015 after they announced the new campus. I don't think they are listening Maybe the new CEO will hav...

Re: Kc skyscraper drought about to max depression era droughttt.

Not sure how large you consider H&R Block but that would be the only large firm I can think of that has moved to downtown in the last 25 years. But that move was only from the fringe of the Plaza so for the city as a whole it wasn't that beneficial. Plus wasn't there plans for a second tower fo...

Re: Three Light

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that most of the candidates except Reed, Justus, and Lucas(maybe) would lead to another development dark ages. I also have a feeling that the council member candidates are generally skewed anti-downtown. This is part of the reason why I want a large city wide tra...

Re: Kc skyscraper drought about to max depression era droughttt.

It’s going to be hard to lure big companies when there is no avalible or soon to be available or really any substantial “in the pipeline” office space. But it’s also hard to build any office space without companies already being interested in it.(spec is hard) We need spec. Office Space in more mixe...

The key is going to be figuring out how to greatly reduce the build cost per mile.

A connection to factory jobs in the east bottoms would be beneficial if the system is also expanded to more working class neighborhoods.

Re: Three Light

4 Light with office and hotel makes more sense to me than an office 5 Light. I would think having a quality hotel in the same building as your offices would have many benefits

Re: Three Light

Is there any chance 3 and 4 light go up at the same time since 4 is also a hotel? It would help complete the district and tie the entire district to the convention center and new lowes hotel. It just seems like it might actually be better to do the next two phases at the same time (along with the f...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

All these added amenities but we still can’t attract a local major employer downtown. It’s almost as Kansas City as tearing down a building for a parking lot on a street/block with an over abundance of parking. Or not stopping at a crosswalk. Not to side rail, but If all of this momentum flickers o...

Re: Three Light

I’m fine with the delay. Redesigning a building so it doesn’t look the same as the others can take a lot of time. Take all the time you want to get it right! If only that was what is happening. To me it would have made more sense to build 4 Light first due to it being a large hotel. That way there ...

Streetcar, Bus, and other public transit solutions will both reduce the need for parking and open up underused lots farther out from more frequented areas.

That way people will know something bigger and better is actually coming..... Waiting on the Chamber to focus thei...
