Re: New Coaster coming to WOF
As far as rides go SDC surpasses WOF in that way also. Not sure where WOF/OOF places on the Cedar Fair food chain bit it must not be very high. IMO WOF/OOF needs some serious investment, something I don't think Cedar Fair is willing or not able to do at this time. WOF is at the very bottom of their...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Nice. I'm glad we sprung for those instead of the windowless ones made of corrugated steel, fluorescent lighting, and despair. I was under the impression that there was some rule or regulation that in the US the jetbridges had to be made of corrugated steel, fluorescent lighting, and despair. The n...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
Kansas would need to have come up with something enticing enough that makes the Chiefs org salivate, otherwise any not quite good enough bid is probably just be about Chiefs seeking to use Kansas' bid as leverage to get more from MO. But if KS does come up with a massively attractive package, might...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium
NFL and MLB stadium locations and needs are different and don't necessarily need to be located in the same place. For the most part a downtown MLB stadium and a suburban NFL stadium seem to be the best for each sport. Tailgating is a big deal in conjunction with an NFL game (as NFL games are more li...

Re: Macy's Closing Lee's Summit
Closing Metro North would be horrible geographically as they’d be left with 2 stores close together in JoCo.empires228 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 5:04 pm BTW, metro north will be next. It was on the same leaked list last year as Independence Center, Lee’s Summit, and the Colorado locations that just made the list.

Macy's Closing Lee's Summit
Looks like they're going to be down to 3 stores in the metro area: Metro North, Oak Park, and Town Center.

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner
Not a good thing for Kansas City regardless how of the deal is packaged. Acquisitions of KC companies by outsiders have never worked out well for Kansas City. At worse, KC loses a major employer, the jobs, the corporate presence - everything associated with Cerner. At best, KC probably loses some o...

Re: Tucson Modern Streetcar 2012
Wow, Metro Center Mall in Phoenix is abandoned? I once was laid-off suddenly from a job in the mid-80s and after leaving my former office up on Bell Road, I drove to Metro Center Mall and wandered around in a stupor because I wasn't ready to go back to my apartment. In my dazed state of upset, I lo...

Is new commercial office space really necessary in the near future? A lot of companies / employees may move to a permanent WFH model or a hybrid desk sharing model where less commercial office space is needed.

Re: Politics
It seems like a lot of GOP legislation is designed to punish the poor for being poor. I don't think any of these abortion laws will materially affect whether or not someone in the middle class (especially upper class) or upper class will be able to receive an abortion. All one in any of these classe...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats
With or without a state capitol, Indianapolis sucks and outside of the sports emphasis, I'll personally never see the allure. It's not like KC has no major universities - MU, KU and K-State, not to mention a ton of smaller schools are all within a reasonable distance to attract jobs and talent. But...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats
Repeatedly, lack of a major university is cited as a contributor to KC's sluggish economic and population growth and repeatedly nothing is done to improve UMKC's fortunes. No, let's attract artists. Let's encourage entrepreneurs. Let's build an innovation district. But, let's not bring resources to...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
FI announced today that they will ending service to BWI- a city they added alongside KC. This could mean that KCI service is not yet set in stone. However, I have heard that sales are strong so far. I'm pretty sure that this may not have anything to do with their KCI service. From what I gather, th...

Re: Toysrus
I believe KB Toys is looking to open up pop-up stores for the holidays similar to the Halloween pop-up stores.
The toy business is relatively seasonal.
