Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Few people want to live in Columbus or Lawrence. Kansas City’s a little bit more easy to stomach.

None of this matters without a major employer moving to downtown. A skyline full of empty spec buildings is without substance anyways.

Re: Troost developments

Ruby Jean's Juicery on Troost opened this Saturday. I went and checked it out today. This is going to be a great addition to Troost. Urban Cafe was a great addition earlier this year and Ruby Jean's may be an ever bigger deal, especially in it's ability to bring people to Troost who might otherwise...

Re: East Side Development

I wish a non profit/quasi-governmental agency would do this for the dilapidated and abandoned multi family housing on the east side to improve some denser options. It would also drastically increase the housing stock allowing market supply for lower income Kansas Citians to afford rent again (and in...

Re: Westport

The idea is to barricade the street, which would force people onto the private sidewalks, where they could be wanded for guns. It's an absurdly transparent end run around state laws and very likely the Constitution. Sadly it's appeasement enough for some of the local urbanists who see giving away s...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

This is the same company that objected to losing their sight lines when the hotel was constructed, yes? correct. and the same ownership that put all of the cerner jobs on the fringe with some of the largest public subsidies in KC history. Haha basically the urbanist’s version of a cartoon villain.

Not to go off on too much of a tangent but when exactly is City Club apartments supposed to break ground? I thought financing was lined up and they were looking at a fall groundbreaking.

Moving probably/hopefully. I know the landlady has been trying to evict her for awhile. Btw not sure if it’s obvious but I have a deep and eternal hate for Heidi Belle.

I also just need it to expand already. The Troost MAX and Main MAX work fine as commuting option but they're not spurring the kind of redevelopment and density the streetcar extension will bring.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

I'm a transit user. I take the Troost MAX to Metro Center and the streetcar takes me anywhere downtown from there. It usually means I'm not spending more than 40 minutes commuting to anywhere downtown from my house near 41st and Troost. I don't get all the complaints about streetcar reliability. It'...
