Yeah, not sure where you've been, but my friends and I have been mocking this for months.
ya'll were hating on this before it was cool to hate on it.

and yeah, "martini corner" is embarrassing. there may as well be a mural of the cast of "friends" on the side of a building down there.

Re: "Tower East"

sorry for the vague original post, i assumed i was late to the game on this. my impression is that people (developers?) are trying to "brand" the 31st/Gillham area as Tower East. clearly there is a bit of momentum going on over there with some new businesses and renovation of buildings. i was just c...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

i dont really care enough about Bird/Lime scooters enough to hate or love them, but i do "get" some aspects of the hate. i think the car-centric "GET OUT OF THE ROAD" mentality is toxic and inane. but i do think there is some merit to reflexive suspicion or derision of these "tech bro"-derived "solu...

Had a comfortable and safe feeling ride over lunch today. Only one person told me to "get the fuck out of the road". And, strangely, it was a person headed the opposite direction. What're you gonna do.
that was me.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

obviously, segregation is a historical and present issue in KC, but it is worth noting that fairly large swaths of the city are still pretty "mixed." like the "East Side" north of 39th, and the entirety of the Old NE (which is enormous) are about 30% white, 30% black, 30% latinx, 10% other and fairl...

Re: Genessee Royale Bistro

I still think the best brewery in KC (certainly my fave) is Crane, in Raytown. Weird location and not physically impressive or anything, but man if you're into sours, goses and the like they have been doing some really really good stuff. as a raytown native, it is still surreal to see something coo...

Re: KC Star building redevelopment

I thought there was already some kind of food hall coming, i think it was on Locust maybe yeah, there can't be two within a couple blocks of each other. this project sounds exciting but the food hall/office concept no doubt will change substantially. https://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/36/...

seems like brick and mortar retail is circling the drain at this point. so what's the plaza's next move, if not more neighborhood amenities?

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

The official HPNA response, written by the HPNA president, with no input from the board or neighbors, requests a 1:1 parking ratio. I don't think that is in line with the opinion of most HP residents, but it is clear the president has kept this process closed so he can control the outcome. i'm sure...

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

Yeah, it was definitely very hostile. People wouldn't even let MAC finish their presentation (which wasn't that long) before launching into lengthy rants. There were some parking complaints, but it seems like most of the ire was directed toward gentrification/apartments being too expensive. interes...

Re: Whole Foods mixed-use project @ 51/Oak

I will agree that the Whole Foods "hot bar" prepared foods I have tried have not been great, although I am not aware of any grocery store prepared foods that are worth a damn...so we almost never buy them unless we're in a rush on our way somewhere. In a pinch we'll buy a prepared cold salad or side...
