Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

this morning on NPR, they did a story on all the "quirky" things that cities are doing to get Amazon's attention. like Tucson sent a giant cactus to seattle. multiple mayors did cheesy videos as well. it made me feel a little better that Sly's antics are not any worse (or better) than the ...

Wow, that's interesting. Not a huge Starbucks fan but Goodcents is vile, so it's an improvement.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

435/blue river is an insult if it's even included in the RFP response package. like the team didn't even read, or consider, what amazon wants. i hope it's a footnote at the end of 11 pages of pitching downtown-area sites. KC's bid has always been a pipe dream, but the city at least needs to put a re...

simply speechless. on what planet does it seem like a good idea to pitch a site to amazon anywhere other than downtown KC? could the city have fucked up the RFP this badly?

Re: Whole Foods mixed-use project @ 51/Oak

The complaining on NextDoor about this development is hilarious. People thinking it was only going to be a Whole Foods...they were lied to! i made the mistake of starting to argue with people about it. every "anti" comment is more goofy than the last. i shouldn't be shocked that folks in ...

I apologize if I have missed or forgotten something, but what is the plan for these corners? Does MAC want to fix up the building on the SW corner like it said it would 5+ years ago? Is the plan for new-construction residential with street-facing retail on the other corners?

dined at corvino last night. we found it to be very impressive on all fronts. the place looks great. live music is a great touch. the cocktails are as good as anywhere. the wine list is thoughtful although i would maybe want to see more old-world reds by the glass. we tried several dishes: steak tar...

Re: KC's quirks and oddities (keep it light)

user: warwickland has furnished me with a copy of this recipe, which does look promising. http://www.extraordinarybbq.com/grilled-pork-steaks/ as beloved as pork steaks are in that town, i assumed it was user error on my part and not some fatal flaw intrinsic to the cut.

Re: KC's quirks and oddities (keep it light)

i've never had a pork steak at a STL backyard bbq, but we received pork steaks in our Local Pig meat-box for a while. we thought it was basically the worst cut of meat ever. we received pork steaks several boxes in a row, and i never could figure out a way to make them taste good or be anything othe...
