Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I was on a call this morning with someone at the top of this. He feels like it’s trending to be a winning vote. However he also said there are other ways to get this done without the vote if they needed to pull that lever. Was adamant that Kansas City would not being losing either team. This is the...

Re: Rail to KCI - 2023
Culturally and politically, MSP is a highly progressive metro. People are more money conscious and and environmentally friendly than the average American. I'd also like to point out they have many major companies headquartered on or near the light rail line, including U.S. Bank, Target, Ameriprise,...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I get that the Royals had zero obligation to speak to or provide any assistance to business tenants who would be displaced, but purely from a practical and public relations standpoint, it clearly would have been a good idea to reach out to business owners and get them on board. Greasing the skids a ...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Stations are airport terminal, new economy lot, and rental car facility. the other box is for the maintenance facility. I can say that traditional airport APM was looked at as well as LRT/Streetcar. No real study was apparently completed The APM to the economy lot/garage and rental car center and t...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Royals announced there will be QT ads on the jerseys now. Are they literally trying to turn everyone against them before the vote? WTF.... This is the MLB, not just the Royals. The Star (and plenty of other newspapers) started printing ads on the front page in the mid-2000s. Twenty years later, the...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Interesting, so kind of like Tampa, they would build a new economy garage between the old Terminal C and the CONRAC. Garages are pricey, of course. What would they do with all the land currently taken up by the three economy lots?

DColeKC, I want to be clear when asking this that I'm not taking a side or assuming any bad faith on the part of you or anyone else. I don't know how this aspect of development works. I understand that the developers will try to negotiate a purchase price with the property owners and may need to go ...

Re: OFFICIAL - KC Star Printing Press
Why did iowa get the job of printing papers from now on? Is the facility up there way better than the Star pavilion was? That has always confused me The Des Moines Register got new presses in 2000. Gannett built their new press facility on the outskirts of Des Moines. They only paid $52.2 million f...

Re: OFFICIAL - KC Star Printing Press
Maybe the Press Pavilion wasn't a terrible investment after all. Maybe Knight Ridder were truly focused on turning downtown around and wanted to make a $199 million investment into a potential ballpark site 20 years later.

i'm gonna zag here. they'll probably stick a huge poster on the att building like they do at the mainmark. i'm picturing the biggest jungle law ad known to man. i am 100% down for that. Surely they can get into a three-way bidding war with Brad Bradshaw and Mike, who I understand has "got this...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Lots of online opposition now from the urban vote from what I see in addition to the expected suburban vote complaining about crime and parking. The renderings and the details better be good today or this is by no means a certainty to be voted through even piggy backing onto the Chiefs. The wait fo...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Remind me again, is part of the Crossroads proposal extending the I-670 cap east of Grand to Oak Street? If not, would it make sense to build a garage in that space that the new stadium and T-Mobile Center could share, kind of like the ABC Ramps in Minneapolis over I-394 by Target Field and the Targ...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Southwest rolled out some new videos on YouTube as part of a PR push called " Investing in Better, " and the new terminal is featured among the improvements they've made. They called out the 290+ employees (who are apparently called "Cohearts" now, I must have missed the memo) an...
