Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Governor J.B. Pritzker is giving some pushback of his own. From the Chicago Tribune: Chicago Bears unveil their lakefront stadium plans as Gov. J.B. Pritzker says ‘I remain skeptical’ Pritzker said Wednesday morning at an unrelated news conference that taxpayer assistance for stadium projects is “no...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
This isn't strictly related to the new terminal, so I don't know if this belongs in some other general thread about KCI, but anyway... We're getting a new rental car company, apparently the world's oldest: Sixt. https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2024/04/23/kci-mci-airport-new-car-rental-co...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Would that include some sort of support for the Chiefs, or is the city prepared to give up the Chiefs to Kansas or some other nearby location?

They can't be that strict. I see bad loans written for bad condo's with terrible financials and piss poor run HOAs every week. So either they aren't strict, or everyone turns a blind eye to the obvious while accepting inaccurate disclosure documents to push things along. I've seen more inaccurate o...

Re: Capping the Loop
The lid has two major issues: 1. No one has addressed the EIS comments. 2. No one (with the capacity as judged by the feds) has stepped up to build/maintain the project. Until these are addressed, nothing happens... especially the eastern expansion proposed by the team. As for WC, this isn't even t...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
John Sherman needs to explain what happened to the East Village site and why it's not on the table. And I'm saying that as someone who thinks the Crossroads site is leagues better than EV. But the last-minute (in relative terms) switch rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and he needs to be clear a...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I noticed on flykc.com that it no longer says "coming soon" for the availability of economy spaces under the garage availability. Have they given up on trying to maintain a live count of available spots in the economy lot? Weird to lose it after having it for so many years. Vendor issue? ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I feel like Oak isn't an insurmountable problem. They could either have Oak curve around the eastern edge of the stadium or have the stadium building cantilevered over Oak, the same way the convention center runs over 13th, 14th, Truman, etc.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The site between Grand and Oak is 100 feet narrower than the smallest modern park in the league. Something will have to give. Back in 2007, the Rays unveiled plans to build a new stadium on the site of Al Lang Field in downtown St. Petersburg, which is a pretty narrow spot. Article with rendering: ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I was on a call this morning with someone at the top of this. He feels like it’s trending to be a winning vote. However he also said there are other ways to get this done without the vote if they needed to pull that lever. Was adamant that Kansas City would not being losing either team. This is the...

Re: Rail to KCI - 2023
Culturally and politically, MSP is a highly progressive metro. People are more money conscious and and environmentally friendly than the average American. I'd also like to point out they have many major companies headquartered on or near the light rail line, including U.S. Bank, Target, Ameriprise,...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I get that the Royals had zero obligation to speak to or provide any assistance to business tenants who would be displaced, but purely from a practical and public relations standpoint, it clearly would have been a good idea to reach out to business owners and get them on board. Greasing the skids a ...

No real study was apparently completed The APM to the economy lot/garage and rental car center and t...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Royals announced there will be QT ads on the jerseys now. Are they literally trying to turn everyone against them before the vote? WTF.... This is the MLB, not just the Royals. The Star (and plenty of other newspapers) started printing ads on the front page in the mid-2000s. Twenty years later, the...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Interesting, so kind of like Tampa, they would build a new economy garage between the old Terminal C and the CONRAC. Garages are pricey, of course. What would they do with all the land currently taken up by the three economy lots?
