Re: Heart of America Rapid Transit

Why does the Green Line become the Blue Line north of the river? Is it not the same line? Are people expected to transfer at the downtown airport station? Also, the way the map was designed, I thought it had to be a mid-80s proposal until I zoomed in and saw references to the Sprint Center and Legen...

Re: Lions Choice

My teenage son made us stop at Lion's Choice three times in four days over the long weekend while we were in St. Louis. I'm tempted to have him apply there so he can make some money while he gains 50 pounds.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

How long until we get something like this, the Program Definition Manual for the new terminal in Des Moines? It's been on the KCI website for years. https://www.flykci.com/media/1446/mci-terminal-area-master-plan-april-2015-final.pdf Oh, maybe I misread that document. I thought that it was a final ...

***BREAKING LION'S CHOICE NEWS***

Per a reply on their Facebook page, they're aiming for a Dec. 27 opening date for the Olathe store, pending no weather delays. That was as of Friday, though, so given the blizzard it may yet be pushed back.

I'll take it if it means people stop thinking of Webster as an MBA mill with campuses nationwide at the nearest Class C office park.

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

Amazon in advanced talks about putting HQ2 in Northern Virginia — Sounds like they're looking at Crystal City, across the Potomac from DC and just north of National Airport. Crystal City was developed in the mid- to late-70s as the Metro was being built, but many of the office buildings are now vac...

I wonder if he has anything to do with Webster University (my alma mater) starting up a chess team that now wins national tournaments.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

It would have been nice for them to design a canopy covering the roadway between the parking garage and the terminal, like PDX has, or like STL was planning but ultimately scrapped.

Re: Shawnee: Proposed mixed-use redevelopment of Westbrooke Village (75th & Quivira)

Shawnee City Council has an extension on the agenda for tonight's meeting to allow the developer to postpone the demolition of the existing buildings. The TIF currently requires demolition of certain buildings by Oct. 1, 2018. The resolution would amend the TIF to postpone that date to August 1, 201...

Re: 95 Metcalf South update

I think I've mentioned before, I used to live in Madison, where there were several Shopkos. They were all very sad little stores. Kmarts without the blue lights. The one on the east side of Madison was always trashed and half of the shelves were empty. Unless they crack the retail success code that ...

I thought they already got approval to build the one in Olathe. Are they building one in Independence first? Do you know when the Olathe one might open?

Re: Kansas City's Twin is Nashville says analysis

Going way back to the OP, I have to say calling Kansas City “the Cape Coral of the Midwest” is a horrifying insult and not accurate in the slightest. Cape Coral is a desolate wasteland of swampy canals, retired Germans and grow houses.

Re: Glenwood Plaza becoming The Union of Metcalf by Legecy Development

Shawnee can't decide what it wants to have. Developers try to bring in apartment complexes like Lenexa has, and residents get up in arms. Westbrook Green at 75th and Quivira is getting pushback from nearby residents afraid the apartments will end up like the run-down complexes along the south side o...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Right. I don't need blueprints showing how many urinals will be installed in each bathroom, I just want a better idea of what it will actually look like versus the vague renderings that are available now. I'd also like a better idea of exactly how it will be expandable in the future.

Is there an ETA for detailed plans/renderings? Aside from the fanciful images that have been release so far.

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Found this on UrbanSTL site. Posted there and thought it was pretty impressive. I fly back and forth from STL on Southwest and find the airport in STL very nice. It just feels like a big airport to me, especially flying out of KCI. Our new airport will help, but not sure if it will have that "wow" ...

How about thy repave the parking lot first? There are potholes you could break an axle with in that lot.

Thought it would be fun to answer them all: McCalister's Deli? Sure, they're pretty good, maybe bette than the Jason's Deli that would be across the street. Burgerfi? Sure, or Larkburger, Mad Greens? Haven't heard of them. Salads, I assume? Why not. Black Bear Diner? I ate at one in Redding a couple...
