Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

It makes sense long-term if the City is considering rebuilding the Barney Allis Plaza parking garage, or losing some of that parking to the UMKC campus. They will need to provide alternative parking for the convention hotels that use the BAP garage while a new garage is built, or if spaces are lost ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

Why would any of these drugstores move to a rental spot when they are already in a building they might own just a short distance away, or have a cheaper long-term rent, which would essentially capture the same market area?

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

An elderly person in checkout line at Costco told me there was once a Wolferman's grocer at Armour and Main. Anyone know which corner? When did it close? Would be nice now to have a dt Cosentino's size grocery on Main. It was on the SW corner where the US Bank is now. It was a small store -- more l...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

If Reeder, or any future owner, is going to renovate the Scarritt, they better do it soon because I am worried that the legislature is going to gut historic tax credits and also housing credits. They seem determined to do it. The same goes for the UMB buildings to the south.

Wayne Reeder owns it, and it is office. Someone did buy it a few years back for an apartment conversion that never happened.

You could have underground parking levels, street -level offices and retail, then more garage levels, and three or four floors of offices.

Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project

I am happy to see plans to do something with the old Muehlebach Hotel. I like buildings that contribute to the neighborhood, and not sit mostly empty. I'm puzzled by the conversion of apartments to hotel, and hotel to apartments as well. I'm just assuming that the math is driving this thinking, and ...
