Re: Market Square Townhomes- Independence Square

These turned out to be the most awful monstrosities that could be conceived--in their faux-Victorian Lego-Disney style. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/307-N-Liberty-St-Unit-9_Independence_MO_64050_M81130-28022#photo15 http://www.kansascityhomes.com/ShowImage.aspx?MlsNum=2055784.1

How many new apartments are in the Flashcube building conversion? There are also a bunch of apartments in the former Abernathy Furniture complex conversion in the West Bottoms.

There is also that Residence Inn hotel-to-apartment conversion at 30th and Main (2975 Main St.).

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

You can't have that high a percentage of low income residents in any one building. The goal should be 10-15 percent of apartments rented to low income residents unless it's a seniors-only apartment community. Most tenant problems are among younger people. Seniors are pretty-well behaved. You need to...

It is also very difficult for disabled people to find affordable housing near transit in Kansas City. Most buildings are not set up for disabled people to begin with. Finding ones that are, that are also next to transit is nearly impossible. In addition, many older people acquire disabling physical ...

If you are high income, and can afford a really big apartment, having a balcony inset into the apartment doesn't seem like a big loss of space because you have enough space anyway.

I used to know someone who lived in this building in NYC on or around the 30th floor. The balconies were not that wide, and they had glass panels as the barricade. You felt very vulnerable being out on it. He said he never really saw anyone using their balconies because of the queasy factor. I once ...
