Re: The Netherland and Monarch on Main

Based on the site, there's about 19,000 sf for the first floor . For reference, a typical Sprouts size grocery store is ~34k sf; the Whole Foods that's goin...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The council has adjourned. The basic (first) agreement was defeated. A vote passed to drop Edgemoor completely, but it was sent to committee for further consideration. It doesn't mean Edgemoor is out, but it doesn't look good for them. Council member Lee Barnes passed out the resolution to dump Edge...

The voting process is still happening on whether to dump Edgemoor altogether. The Council is still in session.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Kansas City's streetcar, which began service in 2016, is considered a success. Could it work in Omaha? On a sunny Wednesday afternoon in November, people filled a shiny streetcar as it hummed through downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Most of the 38 blue plastic seats were occupied. Several dozen more...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

The Plaza is a popular location for office space. This makes me wonder why that building would ever convert to a senior living/assisted living facility. Why wouldn't it continue to be office space?

You can't get them redeveloped if the owner if unwilling to sell at a fair price, and sits on properties for years hoping for some big payday.

Re: On-going downtown development projects

Nick Abnos indicates he hopes to sell the Firestone Building and Romanelli Shops to finance the renovation of his property at 10th and Oak (formerly called the Insurance Building) into a boutique hotel. I'd prefer Abnos just sell all his buildings, and the best thing that could happen to the 10th an...

I don't get KC Life's strategy holding on to so much adjacent property. Are they planning significant growth that requires more buildings on their campus, and more parking?
